  1. But, wouldn't that be true for twins, also?
  2. What do you mean? On straight-up pitchs with no traversing, I often see people clip both doubles into one piece, just like twins. Is this wrong? Should each strand of the double be in its own biner?

  12. I might be heading to vantage this weekend or next with an inexperienced friend, and I'm looking for some easy (~5.6) trad routes with good protection. A friend suggested Green Wall. Any other good spots? Guide book recommendations? TIA

    Ethics Question

depends on the situation. Did they fall due to negligence, or did the rack just break at a bad time? If the latter, then I say you eat the cost. But if he screwed up (forgot to latch the rack closed or something) then I'd say he should offer to replace them. But if he's a good friend, I'd refuse the offer.
  19. pix?
  20. Hey, maybe this is a stupid question, but when leading on double ropes with two followers, is it kosher for the followers to tie into only one half-rope each? Obviously, this wouldn't work well for swinging leads, but if the leader is going to lead the route, is it safe for a second to fall on a single strand of the half-rope? Seems OK to me, but I thought I'd ask.
  21. I dunno about this one in particular, but I can tell you from personal experience that the most uncomfortable packs I've ever worn have all been REI packs. YMMV
  22. My bad, kev, I must have misunderstood. Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll put it to good use. I'm gonna just go with a mixed bag until I figure out what I like, and what works where. The best cam is the one having the most fun?
  23. A snowmobiler is alive after being buried for 8 hours. He was found by probe. He passed out after 5 minutes. The next morning in the hospital, his wife said his temp was 90 degrees. I guess it's like they say, you're not dead until you're warm and dead. Lucky guy. Some distant cousin found him by probe hours after the sheriff's dept had apparently given up for the night.
