  1. Sounds tasty, but Wednesday I've got a series of long and pointless meetings that I can't miss.
  2. I've never seen a chiro -- Layton, think a chiro could help me out?
  3. That's one nasty snowcone
  4. yeah, well, if I could only figure out what to change.... I've tried not running (I've lived with this since long before I ever started running). I've tried PT, stretches, rolfing, ultrasound, deep tissue massage, ice/IBP, braces, orthotics, excercising, hip abductor therapy, etc. No luck. Some of it works for a while, and then I take a tumble in showshoes, and my ITB hates me again. OK, so expect it to recur w injections? Well, I expect it to recur anyway. I'm just looking to get another few months without pain.
  5. Can you PM me the Doc's contact info?
  6. So, this is something that I've struggled with since forever. It usually starts to act up, and then takes FOREVER to get under control, and then stays dormant again until I sustain some kind of injury. Last summer I was basically out of commission for about 4 months doing the PT thing. I (thought I) finally got it under control with a strict regimen of stretching and exercises, plus orthotics. After about 8 months (total), I had nursed myself back to ~15-20 miles per week. I figured I had beaten it! A few weeks ago I sprained my knee. The sprain has healed -- but the ITB thing is back with a vengeance. I can't stand the thought of another 4 months of PT, I don't think I can do it! I'm seriously considering getting cortisone injections now. Anybody done this? Thoughts? It's like a curse.
  7. Update: looks like I pulled a promotion out of this mess. Go figure

  15. I'm no doctor, but I've heard of the dive reflex being triggered by snow and cold air before; I remember hearing about a little girl in Alaska or Montana or something who was revived after several hours of exposure. Doctors attributed it to the dive reflex. That's what made me think of it.
  16. weird, sounds like a bonk to me, how long after eating did you put on the puffy jacket? Are you sure it's the jacket which caused recovery, and not just elapsed time after eating? I wonder if cold air on your face triggered the dive reflex, slowing your metabolism, heart-rate, blood flow to the limbs, etc. until you put the balaclava on....

  21. Yes, I've tried the breathing thing, sometimes it helps a little. Sometimes, if it's dark, I can hide in the back where nobody really notices me, and then I can kinda unwind. The best remedy I've found is getting out into the mountains! But I can't do that everyday.... The whole thing is really just awful, it keeps me from doing so much.
  22. Anybody else get them? When? How often? How do you handle them? I get extreme anxiety and sometimes panic attacks in large, social situations -- airport security lines, malls, pub clubs, etc. When it gets really bad, I pop a benzo or two and that seems to keep me from crawling out of my skin for a while, but it's still pretty spicy sometimes. So far, the best remedy I've found is to just stay away from people. But this is hard with a family and kids who like to go to movies, the mall, the park, seattle center, etc. Anyody else have similar problems? What do you do?
  23. I'm more of a cat person, and drivin' fast makes me nervous. My wife, on the other hand, has a lead-foot. She reverts to super-mario kart when she's on the road. I have to close my eyes and reach for the chill pills....

How much blow did they have? I don't know about Washington, but in many states possession of cocaine is a felony. Ivan, I'm surprised by a few things: 1) I'm surprised that you would look in the student's Ipod in the first place. I wouldn't have. Isn't that personal property? Look who's Big Brother now! 2) Aren't there also laws that mandate that you HAVE to report this kind of thing? I imagine that if word got out that you found out about this and didn't report it, your job could be in danger. 3) I'm surprised that you would talk about this on a public forum. Seems like that could get you into trouble, too. be careful, bro
