NF Shuksan-W Ridge Forbidden or Ptarmigan traverse
RocNoggin replied to marek's topic in Climbing Partners
I would really be interested in doing the Shuksan NF sometime around the 10-13. let me know when and where you end up going. -
do you know where you are going yet? I would be coming down from the Pass and would like to meet you all for some climbing.
-
so what routes did you do in the 5.8-5.9 range? find some good ones? did you do something besides Diedre?! LOL
-
we saw two rattlers when we were climbing up at Playground Point about a month ago. one of them was a baby, wonder if it was the one that got you?! glad you are doing well and thanks for the tips regarding which hospital to go to!

[TR] Mt Rainier- Fuhrer Finger - Descent via Kautz Glacier 6/18/2006

geat job on the climb and congrats to the family! :-) -
does your stove work with the Gaz canisters here? go to REI and play with the stoves and stuff there to see if they will work together. flying with your stove wont be a problem, you just cant fly with fuel. while climbing in France and Italy last year we looked for days for white gas and never found any. I wasnt sure about using petrol from the pump so we ended up buying a stove there. left the canister there and flew home with a new stove.

I have chronic back problems (not that kind of Chronic!) and I find that the less active I am the more problems I have with my back. if I spend a whole day in front of the tv or sleep in too long I feel worse than if I spent two weeks sleeping on rocks in the mountains. I would also second what Mike said about infection. although with me an infection from something like that usually bothers my glands more than muscles. hope you get better soon!

Damn, you guys are making me jealous! family plans for the weekend so I cant join you but I would really love to get back up to WA Pass again soon! have fun! :-)

Partner for Shasta: June 24th/25th (bay area)
RocNoggin replied to plark42's topic in Climbing Partners
what route do you plan on trying? -
light rain at the Pass now, but the clouds look thin, it might be OK at X38...
-
the route actually looked like it was "in"...good luck getting to it though! we had the key to the gate so the 10km ski turned into an 8km drive before the road got too rough for a passenger car. the problem with getting to the climb is that now all the snow in the valley bottom has melted out and the last 2km of the road is TOTALLY overgrown with slide alder. warm temps and rain on/off was inducing a lot of wet snow sliding off the surrounding peaks, Zero Gully looked good though and nothing was falling on the route directly. we decided that the weather was crappy, the snow wouldnt likely be much better, there was something of a safety issue to consider, and no one wanted anything to do with 2km of bushwacking through wet slide alder. so we went to Squamish instead...but thats another trip report.

post some TR's when you get back! I want to go there later this summer! LOL

DH, by any chance have you been to a snowboarders convention lately? just curious...

as you may or may not know, a local climber and owner of the guide company SummitClimb.com, Dan Mazur, was instrumental in the rescue of another climb thought dead on Everest. Dan and Lincoln Hall, the rescued climber, will be on the Today Show and Dateline, Monday, June 12th. some background info on the events and rescue on Everest: http://everestnews.com/everest2006/everest05262006.htm http://everestnews.com/Summitclimb2005/everesttibet2006disps05302006.htm http://everestnews.com/Summitclimb2005/everestdan06022006.htm http://everestnews.com/Summitclimb2005/lincolnhalleverest06082006.htm
