  1. I know adults who can hardly read because of poor public schooling. nah, that's because of public daycare, not public schooling
  2. Homeschooling is great if your kids have another way to get the social interaction and if you're able to devote enough time to ensure they are receiving a proper education, but it can be done very wrong with unfortunate consequences. Just remember it's like taking a new job as a teacher, and give it the level of attention you would if you had a principal breathing down your neck. I know a 5th grader who can hardly read because of poor homeschooling, and that's a tragedy in this day in age.
  3. k-bone, take the time to understand why the national electoral process is the way it is before you advocate against it. At the most basic level, we have the electoral college because the US is not a homogeneous country; we're a union of states. Also, don't forget it is distinctly different from the political parties' own processes. Primaries & caucuses and all the rules that go with them are set up to accomplish whatever the parties want them to accomplish. It would appear that superdelegates exist because whoever created the rules wanted their voices heard a little louder than joe schmoe on the street. Note that superdelegates don't exist in the national electoral process.
  4. oh, and I suggest Gold Bond for the chapped hide
  5. seems kinda un-democratic
  6. Doesn't that just mean that Democrats are about 4 times corrupter than Republicans? Conspiracy theorizing :pagetop:'s Besides, even the word d'EMO'c'RAT' should tell you something about them. Now, re'PUB'li'CAN' is just plain cooler.
  7. isn't Sherri a total rock star at wood? maybe you should PM her
  8. We have always had things that look like Porter crawling out of the ground in Eastern Washington
  9. bill, i love you man, and that hurts
  10. I think you'll have more trouble finding a gym than partners. There's only one or two here. I don't know anything about them but I don't think they're too thrilling. If I were you, I'd plan to drive 1 hr. to Vantage & you can hook up with tons of partners from this board who will meet you there. It's pretty much an outdoor gym with no belay card requirement. the gyms I know of are at the Tri-City Court Club and at Columbia Basin College. I think CBC only has a revolving wall (think vertical treadmill).
  11. ohboyohboyohboyohboy, I just got accepted to med school in SoCal, so unless UW gets its act together and lets me in, then I will not be a cascade climber for a very long time. :mixedemotions:
  12. Is it ethical for a woman to wear more than a bra top at the crags?

  15. That's so gay when people use "lame" as a synonymn for something negative. I know a lot of lame people and I'm offended by your retarded post.
  16. hey rob, what do you hate about the golite packs? I just bought a Lite-Speed (3000 cu in, ~50 liters) and haven't used it yet...
  17. Not true, they just haven't released that info to the media yet. The "Thursday" story was just a smokescreen, apparently.

  20. The Third Man - delightfully evil film noir classic Murder on the Orient Express - more evil you can't help but smile at Charade - any film with the line "You fell for her like an egg from a tall chicken!" is so worth a watch
  21. not a bad idea so you want this bunch of spraylords to find that the easiest threads to post in and keep track of are all climbing related? you're playing with fire.
  22. Just don't use Schoeller pants. I call them my "self-arrest pants" for a reason.
  23. Anybody notice how far down Iraq is on that list? What does that mean w/r/t the war? Was it really about oil? Shoot, we should have started a war with Canada! They're too stuck on the Geneva conventions to pull the kind of suicide crap the Iraqis are so good at, plus the soldiers could go skiing at Whistler in between battles!

    Earmarks

    Earmarks

aw, don't be so harsh, the bone just asked an honest question. kev, an earmark (for the purpose of this discussion) is when a US Senator or Congressman/woman asks for money from the federal government for a project that really only benefits their own state. They put an earmark in a huge bill so nobody really notices, and when voting against the bill makes everyone look bad. i.e. a bunch of senators put in millions upon millions of dollars in earmarks on a minimum wage bill. Therefore, if you vote against the minimum wage bill because there's earmarks in it, you will be labeled anti-poor people. Now there are probably some earmarks which really do benefit the nation somehow, but there's no oversight whatsoever and if McCain didn't ask for a red cent, then they're apparently not all that necessary.
