Ya, the index TXT file alone is 3MB zipped. This code isn't exactly going to be passed around in a hurry...

Well, MS does use some sound security methods for basic security authentication and networking such as Kerberos, so their fundamental layer shouldn't see any change in vulnerability, but it's widely accepted that MS subscribes to the "security through obscurity" theory for bugs left in the code, so I wouldn't be surprised if their hand was forced to do a major code scrub and release a whole slew of new security patches. But, they might just turn a blind eye until it bites them in the ass. On the other hand, it will also likely result in some very interesting new Windows hacks being released on the internet...

I don't think it's a nosejob. I think it's a celebrity impersonator taking his position like in the movie Dave. The real Bush wandered off somewhere during a trip to the zoo and they can't find him.

Left unchecked, airline baggage handlers get their hands on one of the airplanes.

That is by far the most useful post on this thread so far. Who says spray serves no purpose.

Shit dude, I'm home sick and I STILL have more to do than spray

Left it LOCKED??? Surprised they didn't leave a note: "Terribly sorry for the inconvenience. Love the stereo, but the sunglesses just aren't me. Have a nice day!" But congrats on the return!

Yes, but it's a mishmash of I-beams that looks like it was done by a 5-year-old, which makes it art.

Yes, but those didn't show up on the Jumbotron. When they make IMAX porn, then this will be passe.

That is until Peter Jackson makes The Hobbit. Then The Silmarillion. Then The Tale of Tom Bombadil. And Sir Farmer Giles of Ham. It will never end, minx. Best get used to climbing in cloaks and Sportiva "Hobbit Feet".

One word: cloning. And you know this guy thought of that already.

So you don't intend to watch Touching the Void then? I'd say the NBC halftime show would qualify under that title.

Worst part is, that doesn't seem too unrealistic of him to do.... How depressing is that?

Iain touches on a very important point here. While BSD, specifically OpenBSD, is truly an excellent OS, and one of the most secure, the average Joe's grandmother isn't going to know so much as how to insert the CD, let alone install it. Ask any hacker, and they'll tell you the weakest link to any system is the user. MyDoom/Novarg doesn't just launch itself as soon as you get your email; you have to open the email, which will typically show to be from a completely unknown sender, then run the attachment from said email manually. Windows spent so much time making their OS idiot-proof, but now it's biting them in the ass because their users really don't know what they're doing. With a little basic education, this virus would go nowhere. Windows does definitely have a lot of ground to make up to be considered anything less than crawling with bugs, but education is just as important.

I think you're on to something here, MisterE. What Spray needs is a color-coded Spray Alert Level. Posted on the outside of the Spray forum, moderators must keep it up to date as conditions change moment to moment, but in the interest of avoiding offending people, they must be vague with their reasons for changing it. Here is my proposed level guide: Grey (Low) - Little is going on in Spray, probably because it's a nice day or the weekend. Aquamarine - Some light mention of politics or banning. Language is light with some swearing. Mauve - Heated but isolated debating. Past threads and banned members referred to on occasion. Regular use of offensive language and references to male and female anatomy. Chartreuse (High) - Widespread threads based on or generating long-standing personal grudges, most likely centered around banning or a devolved thread from another forum that has been relocated. Extensive swearing, personal attacks, and possible posting of porn. Remember, spray awareness is everyone's job!

MisterE, is this the route you belayed Tex on back in Nov? If so, I got a few shots of it here, here, and here.
