isn't the rating associated with the difficulty rather than how you protect? i guess if you trust the placements (bolts) you might climb harder than a marginally placed cam. within trad there is the split between crack and face climbing...is there a ratings difference there at one crag with both (say Index)?

Quite frankly I'd have to agree that the search function is pretty bad on this board. It can be hard to get *any* results with it if you're casting a wider net. Unfortunately that is an underpinning of the software we use currently and quite possibly also related the the CPU/disk we're on. I'd agree that for "power searchs" google is probably a better choice for the site right now. We'll be making some decisions about the board software at some point, and that is going to be a factor.

I'm just glad we can have these frank, open, and spray free conversations without a bunch of jackassery. Thanks for your thoughts on the site. I'm glad its working out ok most of the time for you guys.

Not true at all Dru. It may be the case in some instances, but the most partner requests I see here are people who just want to get out and climb and can't find anyone with the same sort of schedule that they have.
