  1. Site has been upgraded! There is some broken stuff. I know TR search is broken. I'm working on the Tags and Prefixes part, that app will be re-enabled when I'm done. Let me know what you see that is broken.
  2. Site is most likely going to be down for a little while tonight. DO NOT PANIC. It will return. Probably down for 2-3 hours max.
  3. Well our new sponsor ad is in place, and I think you'll find it very low key! Huge thank you to Bellingham based The American Alpine Institute for being our sole sponsor, taking care of our hosting costs, which is our biggest cost. @Jason_Martin of AAI reached out to me, and really wanted to support the forums. They have supported us in the past, and now stepped up to support us again. They will be our sole sponsor for 6 months. Big time, and they are a local climbing related company to boot! Please do return the love if you can to Jason and crew...they love this site just like you do, so its a perfect it. If you don't know about AAI, please read about them here. Thank you for helping us keep the lights on!
  4. I'm writing the same book. Except with multiple hobbies at once, so you get an extra "Jack of All Trades, and Master of None" chapter. Is that car blind in one eye?
  5. Is it a Model T Club?
  6. We get many more commits may need to sit outside patio in front to have space for us all! Bring a jacket just in case.
  7. yep Strava is my favorite social media other than this site
  8. Apologies for shutting down the site, but again I'm working on things. Should probably expect things are going to be like this for like a week or till I say otherwise. I'm working on number of things to prepare for the upgrade.
  9. I'd like to start collecting ideas, no matter how simple, of how we can make the Trip Report function better. People have donated money not only keep this site going, but also to make it better. I'm planning on using some of the money to improve things. So lets hear some ideas, no matter how simple. Or any part of the site actually, but I think Trip Reports are the most important part of the site (other than you of course! you're number one always).
  10. thanks for your patience. sorry about the down time but it was necessary.
  11. Site will likely be down for maintenance this evening. I need to do a few things to prep for an upgrade. I'll post right before if I'm set to do it tonight.
  12. I have an exciting announcement coming. Details are pretty much ironed out, but I'm a little under the weather right now so I need to get some stuff done before the official announcement, but we will be going with the hybrid model (as the poll was pretty clearly showing most people wanted). I'll share that info soon, but I can tell you this. Its a local climbing related company, not Google Ads. It will be a single sponsorship for a set duration. it will not cover everything, but those have donated are helping build a war chest we can use to improve the site and also make it financially resilient for whatever comes at us in the future. There will be additional cost for development (we can make this site better)...but for now this keeps that fire burning. So I do encourage those that love this site and haven't thrown down to still do so. There may even be a secret forum. thank you for supporting the site.
  13. So happy to see the support people have for this site.
  14. IMO, the more the merrier. We will have a good time regardless, but invite your climbing friends if you want.
  15. I too use any excuse for to go for a bike ride!
  16. Maybe...next fall though...
  17. until
7pm till the last person leaves at the Beer Junction in West Seattle! https://www.thebeerjunction.com/directions
  18. OK first one I'm calling: December 14th, Beer Junction, in West Seattle. 7pm till the last person leaves. After that we will do a rotation of pubs based on either poll results or by the loudest voices. https://www.thebeerjunction.com/directions Bridge is open! **NOTE WE WILL NORMALLY DO 3rd Wednesdays....this is a second Wednesday this one time only***
  19. After the first one, its up in the air so Hellbent sounds good....adding it to the list for a poll here after the first one for the next one....
  20. It ain't over till its over! I raised a young man and he's off on his own now. Now its time for me to have my fun again.
  21. the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page is fixed. So if anyone is having problems logging in, use it to contact us. Thanks.
  22. My cycling club does a "pub club" the first Wednesday of every month. I'd like to get something like that going. The cycling club has it at the same place every time (a place that actually also sponsors the club), but since we are geographically diverse, then at least for Seattle we could have a set of rotating pubs or whatever. In West Seattle we have : The Beer Junction (I'm inclined to have the first one here!) The Good Society Elliot Bay Brewery Throw out your favorite pub and we can see if we could get it in rotation depending on how it works? Might have a poll.... So I'm thinking every 3rd Wednesday (I gotta make that cycling club one)? But the first one will not be on that schedule, but just early December.
  23. I think WP is one of biggest targets on the Internet right now. I am very interested in possible help, but I think you can understand that there is very much a trust issue with bringing people on to do that sort of thing. I also am only one half of the ownership, so I'm only reflecting my opinion on that. But know I hear you and really appreciate the offers. We have what it takes for the immediate future, but what I want to see if this site become good enough for the user base to be grown so there is never, ever a question of its survival. That is my goal, as it always has been since I was first involved. To keep this little niche on the Interwebz alive and the every growing pile of stories never to go away.
