  1. Any of you cats climbed in the whitney portal area? I have googled the area and come up with some stuff, but any addl. beta is appreciated.

  3. Terraserver image of ragged ridge
  4. A copy of the collected works of Aaron Copland found their way into my world. Yesterday we played Fanfare for the common man before an afternoon trail run at Mt. Charleston...My lady said she felt like she was in the Olympics. Aaron Copland
  5. The Black Corridor smells like pee. IMO the worst crag in Red Rocks. Other alternatives include the Ragged edges area and The Gallery, Family crag and the boulders at Calico basin.
  6. I've done the Potter system (carrying a few bits of kit and a 8mm) for some longer solos. I take the gear along to harvest the rich booty crop that grows down here.
  7. Cannibal crag. The best after work, easy hike, good view, walk around to the top-rope rock in all of Red Rocks. If I may throw in my personal opinion: just take her scrambling. It's low tech and way more fun than technical climbing. The savy might bring a short chunk of rope to ease the way past hard bits. Really good fun! Go in the afternoon and watch the sunset from atop the hill above Red Springs, the city beginning to glow in the distance... PS: take TWO headlamps!
  8. SLC has a thriving counter culture, a good place to like punk rock, blondes and right hand turns. Boise?.... I've heard of it, that little town just past Mountain Home.
  9. The weed I am smoking is of a fine quality... here is that picture of the upper sultan river valley:
  10. Don't neglect the passive protection.
  11. No panarama, but this looked like Patagonia.
  12. While winter touring in the area, we saw sick ice lines down the west slopes of the Ragged ridge. Pretty brave stuff for such low elevation.
  13. Brilliant! Any sign of hairy mountain devils? The view of Ragged Ridge must have been pretty amazing...
  14. Anybody ever do any climbing around Nelson BC? The area looks amazing!
  15. Talked to a tribal member, he said the tribe voted down the proposed development.
  16. My new favorite band...Modest mouse. What is currently turning your screws? (besides the bolt wars)
  17. Fig bars are aid! My god that one small detail sheds a whole new light on things... 7 peaks in a day, covering 30 miles ..."but I had a fig bar and some water..."
  18. CC.com Spray was found dead early this morning. The cause of death is still under investigation. The administrators are asking for any infromation that might help explain what happened... Spray was last seen to be in failing health due to boring topics and political dead horse kicking that persisted in recient months.
  19. Sunny and steep Cannibal crag Alternative crag Cannibis crag Family crag
  20. Somebody should chop this new route on the Incredible hulk...bolts next to cracks! who would do such a thing?
  21. I'll start the bidding at $100.00...
  22. I have seen pictures of an area in Oregon that has better splitters than Indian Creek. The name escapes me....something something.
  23. We voted....by secret ballot.
  24. A trick to the whole Gri gri back up is to jug with a rope bag, stacking every 20 feet or so. Sounds akward, but on easy climbing, it worked pretty well. We used this method on Moonlight and led the climb in blocks, so changeovers were pretty seamless.
