You'd need a lot of Cornish Game hens to make a big enough pyramid to get you as high as you could get with a long stick clip.

Looking for current Ptarmigan Traverse conditions. Anyone been in there lately? Weather permitting, plan to flail through it in a week or so. Interested in particulars that might make a glacier-tard take pause. They *say* mere mortals like myself can do it this time of year.

And I bet you are making boodles of money down there, ya bugger. I loaded out "Rent" tonight, to pay the "rent."

Thanks for posting that. The first one was an excellent read, amnd even got me thinking it's not such a terrible idea to close the road at Dingford.

I don't think we know who the culprit was here yet.

I have a pair of these coming, size 41, 9.5 Wns, 7.5 Mns, and I'm getting a pair from another source as well so I don't need the ones I've ordered. The ones I ordered from Campmor are on closeout, for 30, which is what I want for them, plus the cost of shipping, should be 35$-36$. I would like to sell them, otherwise I'll return them and eat the shipping both ways.

La Sportiva Exum Ridge $30!! (limited sizes)

So I have a pair of 41s coming, and I got another pair coming from another source, so if anyone still wants a pair of these and they are looking for a 41, let me know, and I'll sell them to you for what I paid for them. Otherwise I'll return them, but would rather not eat the postage both ways!!!! -
Seattle Gear Store Question: Climbing Shoes
marylou replied to willstrickland's topic in Local Gear Shops
Is this a climbing site....WTF....? -
Please do, Lowell. The Mountaineers Books people don't even have the whole collection at their disposal, but the club library apparently has close to it. Say what you will about the Mountaineers, but they have put out some fine books.

The "giving something back" aspect of doing volunteer work is not half bad either.

volunteer for your pass
-
Just curious, Ry, if you are not up there for recreation, than what for? Typically they give you a pass if you are doing TM, only other thing I can think of is maybe you are doing resource work, eg counting animals or trees? Otherwise you'd need a pass.

The FP money stays in the district where you buy the pass.

Coupla things: 1. At least in Washington, the FS isn't really in the business of timber sales anymore. I'm sure you know they don't keep the money they get from timber sales anyway. Seems since the FS doesn't generate a lot from timber sales anymore, the Congress is less than forthcoming with the money they need to run the forest. 2. No, I am not currently using the public education system, but I did as a kid, and I'm happy to pay my share to help other peole's kids get an education. 3. I do follow the stewardship and fee demo threads pretty regularly around here, and anyone who knows me might say I'm a fairly active citizen WRT forest conservation issues. I find the conversations entertaining, but sometimes after a while I see a lot of whining about a 30 dollar pass for something we all use a LOT. I pay money for a fishing license, why wouldn't I have to pay for FS TH parking? I don't know, it seems that as we Eymanize our regular taxes, we're going to have to find other ways to pay for things. The money to maintain the roads, trails, and services isn't going to fall out of the air.
-
Considering that Congress has basically eviscerated the FS's budget, I'd kindly suggest you whiners STFU and pay the money. ESPECIALLY this year after the weather event of last fall did so much road and trail damage all over the Cascades. That or don't use the forest. If you can't afford a pass, you can do a couple of days of volunteer work to pay for it.

La Sportiva Exum Ridge $30!! (limited sizes)
marylou replied to Alpinfox's topic in On-Line/Mail-Order Gear Shops
Thanks, Pax. They only have a couple of sizes left, but one of them is my size. I tried on a pair before I bought them, and as I've expereinced before, the La Sportivas maybe run a little small. I'm normally a Wns 9, and I got a 41/Wns 9.5. -
I thought we didn't use the "c" word here. Who was talking to you, anyway? I sure wasn't.

If any of this stuff gets a few more people out to vote, then it's a good thing in my opinion.

I saw Don Serl there, but since I don't know him, I didn't say hi.

It's a new stove for next year. Liquid fuel, no pump, no bottle, just put the fuel in the resivoir in the stove. It has a heat exchanger as well, and an integrated windscreen. Like the Jetboil canister stove, it has its own cookpot/cup dealo with the heat exchanger on the bottom. It's pretty cool but they have a ways to go on it, it's still in prototype. They're also talking $170 retail, which is a bit rich for my blood, personally. The thing that replaces the fuel pump is emerging technology, and apparently that is part of why it's so expensive. They also have some of the same thermal technology rolled into a new canister stove, but they were not demoing it. And did I mention the pink sleeping pads?

Hey, you left your tin foil hat over at my place last night!

Thumbs up for both places. I think we can thank M. Volken for the Itailan place being stinky-friendly as his shop's across the street. Not that he's a stinky guy or anything like that. Rhody's in the Shell Station (on the way to the mfk road) has great bbq but does lack in ambience. I've been hearing great things about Gordy's lately, exit 32 on the S side of the fwy.
