Yeah that one is not a good one unless you get the light just rust right. I live up there and been able to catch air on those street crossings. I always think about building a small ramp to set up on one of those street crossing, the nice thing is there is endless runout, until the light.

Could have been worse, how about this rude bear.

I had a friend that hit 69 mph coming down Teton Pass, that was his top speed. For myself, my top recorded speed is 56 mph, but I think I have gone faster, just don't normally have a computer on my bike. At a national Norba downhill race I averaged 45 mph, with 2 minute intervals, I managed to pass two and almost passed a third at the finish line. That ride was a rush. Hey Paco you should try the Magnolia loop the other way, it is fast to, especially on the park drive that has views of the water. Also up in Shoreline area there is a really steep fast hill there, actually the ride that I do there are several fast hills.

dont forget boobbyP edit: and i might still be on the injured reserve list next week.... Hey Swhateveryourlastnameis what do you mean you are on the injured list, wtf did you do? I hope to be completely off the list by then and can rope gun a few routes over at Index. It is a great place to climb, we could have a fire down at the campsite next to the river afterwards.

Lately been in to doing alpine routes, Vesper, WA Pass, Forbidden, don't have anything in mind for this weekend yet. Looking for easier climbs since I am not totally up to par, around 5.7 or so. Also prefer to do day trips, even if it means getting up at a god awful hour. So you up for it?

Did I hear INDEX.

Is the Smoots guide the only readily available info that is out there? Like I don't even know how to get to the area or anything like that. Ken

Well it has been 7 and half weeks since my accident and I can still feel it. The last three weekend I have been able to get out, though been keeping it mellow 5.6 and under, and been climbing in my sneaks as opposed to rock shoes. After a day of climbing my foot is real gimpy in the morning, then losens up later in the day. Still got sometime before I am 100%.

Cycling is what I choose for my aerobic workouts. I work out aerobicly so that approaches are easier for me. I feel that running works my leg muscles the same way they are worked when I hiking to the base of the crag or mountain. The reason why I like cycling is cause I feel like I can hammer one day and then go out climbing the next without being tired. I also like all the ground that I can cover on my bike, it opens up a lot more terrain from my doorstep, compared to running. The one thing that I don't like about cycling is the time commitment, definitely takes longer to get a good aerobic work out in. As for getting hit, I don't worry about it, in the city I move just about as fast as traffic on average, the PNW seems to be quite curtious to cyclist, and there are bike lanes and trail if you don't feel comfortable on the road. Riding on the open streets you just have to ride agressively, which is fun. If you are interested in staying injury free I would reccomend road riding over mountain biking, I have hurt myself more time riding my mountain bike than I have in any other sport, though I still love mountain biking.

I found the 10b easier than the last 10a pitch.

I am sure it is somewhere in here, but Ican't find it, or maybe it doesn't exist. Anyway I am looking for info on the Tieton area. I have never been there, but interested in checking out the area, since I have heard good things about it. Any suggestions on where to go, what routes to do, so on and so on? So can any of you help me out?

It is amazing that China didn't make in the final three. Though their was all kinds mistakes on the floor, but I thought their performance on the horse would make up for it. Thos guys were so freaking fast on that thing.

[TR] Forbidden- West Ridge (down NE Face) 8/14/2004
ken4ord replied to ken4ord's topic in North Cascades
Hey Cracked, yep that was me in the green dome. Were you the one at the top of the rapstation as I was going by? Yeah slothtrop, my foot starting to feel a little better. The last weekend I have gotten out and done some of the easier classics that I was saving for solo days, but they are perfect for the condition that I am in now. Still not 100%, by the time we reached the car I was pretty gimpy. Those other ridge lines look great, and the south face, though the South face look like would be hard getting through the crux. Next time, I think I would like to do the East Ridge and descend down the North Ridge, that looks awesome. Just some great exposure. ashw_justin I saw a little alpinmouse up high on the ridge and thought the same thing, there wasn't any plants or shit except lichen. Maybe they collect enough cookie crumbs to get them through the year. -
So did anybody make it? How about a TR. My TR is rode home, smoked , ate, slept.

Climb: Forbidden-West Ridge (down NE Face) Date of Climb: 8/14/2004 Trip Report: Now That my foot is starting to feel better, been getting out on some of the easier alpine classics that I haven't done so far since I have been out here. This time around I recruited my friend Jen for a one day on Forbidden. We met up at 4am and began the drive over to the trailhead. We arrived at the trail at 7 and began the slog up. It wasn't that bad hiking in, it is so nice traveling light. An hour later we out of the woods and looking at what we going for. Really beautiful up there, and there was tame marmots everywhere up there as well. Can't remeber what time it was when we started, but I think it was around 10. There was no snow up in the gully so almost immediately we were heading left to the rock. The first pitch was the hardest part of the whole climb, maybe 5.6 or 7. After belaying that out we did a short rope running belay to the ridge. Once on the ridge we did two more running belays to the top. On top we met up with Joe and his partner. Joe was kind enough to take some pictures and send them to me. We talked about the descent breifly. We all decided to climb down the ridge a little way and do a single rap to the ledges. Well, it didn't out that way for us. We ended doing several raps and roping up for the fourth class across. All in all it was a great adventure. I can't wait to get up there and do something else on that mountain. And here's the eye candy: Here Joe's partner being a snaffle salt lick, wish I could have seen that one On the end of our first pitch on the ridge. Coming down off the West summit. Gear Notes: Standard light alpine rack, 6 cams, few nuts, 8 slings, single 8mm, crampons, and alpine axe. Approach Notes: Very little snow travel was involved could have gotten away without crampons, but they made the snow travel easier.
