  1. Thursday-walked around UC-Boulder with son #1 Friday drove 7 hours to the center of Kansas Saturday walked all day (probably about 7-8 miles) over fields of said Kansas carrying a 8 lbs barbell, trying to see the exotic ring-necked pheasant and make them dead. Sunday ditto Today, drive 7 hours to DIA catch a 6:10am flight to SLC, spend 9 hours on layover in SLC, get to PDX friggin 16 hours after I left Kansas.
  2. I need things to do while waiting out a 9 hour layover in SLC. I almost rented a car and drove up to Park City for some turns but that was a whole lot more $$$$$$$ than paying for a WIFI connection in the terminal siting on cc.com and spewing....
  3. Congrats to the team. Is there a website with updates? I heard the weather has been marginal.
  4. Cluck, Iain and all the emergency response folks, you are incredible. We are lucky to have folks like you around.

  7. The Endangered Species Act will be gutted Spotted owls, marbled murrelets, bald eagles and salmon will all be delisted post-haste Major revisions or erosion of most major environmental laws Drilling in ANWR Sale of public lands No more purchases of any new public land New Supreme Court Chief Justice will NOT come from the Court, hopefully it won't be Ashcroft With the Senate and House in the blue columm, there will be some major legislative initiatives to set things up for the next 30 years. If you didn't like the last Bush Administration, don't worry they were only the Opening Act for the next

    Quagmire yet?

Insubordination is not a new thing in military history, but sounds new to Iraq. Or at least newly reported. It is dealt with very seriously.
  17. Hunting Seasons open
  18. Puleeeze Dad don't talk about us like we are 3 years old and in a different room. Mom, lay off of the mother's little helpers. Or Man, I wish I had some of those uppers that Mom and Sis scored.
  19. I am 46. I blew my ACL out playing volleyball last September. I waited til December to have the operation, but I continued going to the gym daily within days of the injury. Had complete tear but partial reattachment after 3 months. Doc did the surgery anyway because I wanted a bomber knee. Used a hamstring graft. Never did use crutches, was in for PT the day after the surgery. Worked out in the gym every day for 4 months gradually increasing strengthening routines and cardio. At 4 months I climber Hood in 6 hours round trip. At 6 months I did Sandy Glacier Headwall and the Dr. said I was completely healed. At 7 months the Three sisters traverse. I probably tore some cartlidge on that trip cause it was swollen after doing North and Middle in a day. Since then it has been getting back to what it was before Three Sisters. I would recommend the hamstring graft and agressively trying to rebuild strength but be patience before pushing on to the multi-day suffer events.
  20. i am so sorry for you
  21. I got the following information from Pagel about his observations and how he came to the conclusion that climbers may have destroyed the peregrine eggs. "We had observations of numerous instances of the climbers who have regularly disobeyed the closure rules. On the year in question, we observed them near the nest site, and they went past the ledge during incubation. After their climb, the birds abandoned the nest. I went to the nest site a week or two after the birds abandoned and found footprints on the ledge and within the nest scrape; no eggs were present. I also found and removed brand new webbing and rappel rings, and a large Friend left in a crack by recent climbers. I had cleaned the site of all gear prior to the nesting season, so we know when the webbing at least was put up. We also know the birds were incubating what appeared to be a complete clutch. I found no eggs, or even fragments on the scrape. We searched below, and only found a single small fragment of a recent egg. The climbers has also piled rocks on the nest scrape so nesting could not re-occur".
  22. Have him pm me and I'll put him in touch with Pagel. edited with new info I just talked to Pagel and he said "No peregrines were killed by climbers on beacon rock... They may have thrown eggs off the ledge though, based on observations and the evidence I found in the ledge..."
