  1. A friend who is a biologist at YNP told me that they purchased "gas masks" and hearing protection for the employees at the entrance gates to the Park due to the exhaust and noise from the snow machines. That sounds like a wonderful wilderness experience to me.
  2. The Presidential Election. Maybe you haven't heard about it yet.
  3. You can express your opinion about this 7 weeks from today. And live with the results for the rest of our time here.

  10. Greg Someone took your picture at the RNC convention. And I always thought they were being harsh by calling you an insensitive dickhead. Now I can see that you at least are a compassionate, insensitive dickhead

  12. Good job, glad you and your partner and the other party could help out. Probably saved his life. to you guys. Not to nitpick (is that spelled right Ireno?) or belittle your assistance: but isn't the total volume of blood in the human body something like 5 liters? It would be hard to loose 6-8 liters out of a 5 liter system.
  13. A friend lost some that weekend. I'll email him with your info. Thanks.

    Bad Photo Contest

not my picture but pretty funny
  15. Gotta agree with you Jim. I think you and I could have a nice professional debate with him about these concerns. All of the literature he has cited is generic textbook type of "science". None of it is specific to any of the alledged loss of habitat values from the specific recreational disturbances therefore it doesn't do much to support his arguments. Seems like a real preservationist philosophy of putting a fence around it and keeping everybody out. Seems pretty naive to think that type of management will maintain the values he seeks to protect.
  16. They were vision questing. We ran into their ?leader? when we started out. She asked that we not speak to anyone we saw or make eye contact with them. WTF? We had a good time and it was a fun trip. Feet are sore now and the quads are burning from the descent. We camped at about 5400 feet and was wondering where you guys came from cause when we first saw you it appeared that you came up Terror Creek. How did you like the climbers trail going up to the ledges? Where did you find water? We did lots of 4th class scrambling and rock trundling. Tried not to kill each other but it was close a few times. Made the tasty mighty fine.
  17. Here is a picture of you guys from above as you threaded your way through the Terror. I was wondering if you guys survived since we watched you about half way through the glacier and then turned around a couple of minutes later and there was no sign of you. Good job. Where did yu bivy the first night on the Goodell Creek approach?
  18. We aren't letting them vote or dictate the procedures. It has nothing to do with sovereignty, but everything with transparency. I guess you think the rest of world owes us everything when it comes to their elections? Paranoid?
  19. Are you afraid of a little transparency?
  20. Nice Raichles. I have a pair too, but haven't done much bouldering in them. Maybe I could redpoint problems like this if I did.

  22. thinner air. helicopters need thick air to fly. Altitude and high temps are bad juju for rotary wing aircraft. They can't fly as high or lift as much at altitude on hot days.

  24. Greg you mean varmit, rodents are a taxonomic family of mammals , generally with two enlarged incisors for chewing (think beavers, mice, rats).
  25. Weird. Did they seem like they might be young of the year? They usually run more solitary this time of the year. Liekwise, they usually are very shy around people. Did you encounter them in a urban/suburban area. They may be young or they may be just haven't been shot at by too many ranchers, hunters or bubbas. I have never heard of attacking a horse and rider. I imagine that you made a bunch of noise and they still didn't run off? Sounds like you better talk to Greg_W about getting a CCL. Pop a few caps at them. Sorry to hear about your dog, what kind was it? My lab has had a few wounds from coyote battles.
