  1. 'Mountie' is slacking on the job this year.....
  2. Skied Yodelin on Sunday. 8" of light(ish) untracked fresh on top of a soft base. Cold temps in the morning kept the snow good until we descended around 2 pm. mix of light snow showers and blue skies was awesome. best part? not another soul around. that is a yodelin first for a sunday! guess everyone was in church? it was a stellar mid-april day. this winter just keeps on giving!
  3. I’d venture to guess that probably a majority of the people protesting were illegals and that has nothing to do with skin color (and I have no idea why race was even brought up). Do you think this is a stretch? Most people who protest against Bush are liberals right? Same reasoning. If you are protesting something its because you support the cause of the protest right? Why would someone protest against this law? Hmmmm, maybe because they themselves are illegals or their friends and families are. I see what underworld is saying and it does seem ironic to me. And I don’t buy this argument that our society would crumble without them. We have plenty of legitimate aliens to do those jobs.
  4. My fritschis accept my Lasers and my Scarpa Alphas (same shell size) with out any adjustment at all. So I tried skiing the Alphas inbounds for a morning once and had no edging power at all. It was really weird and difficult. I vowed never to ski bc in the alphas unless it was a completely flat approach.
  5. find the cheapest possible flight to any city in Europe through orbitz, travelocity, etc or though a consolidator (STA travel also has cheap flights). Cheapest cities to fly into will probably be London, Paris, Amsterdam, etc. Then book a budget airline flight to Geneva on a carrier like Ryanair, easyjet, jetblue, etc. check www.whichbuget.com for those cheap flights
  6. Sibley creek is like mp 9 or 10 I think. Mineral Park is mp 16 (I believe). Eldorado is mp 20. don’t know about Gilbert’s cabin.
  7. As of Saturday, March 18th, Cascade River road is not driveable in normal 4x4 (jeep) after mile post 16. (you might get a 1/4 mile more if you wanted to really be greedy and work for it). Patchy deep snow spots / bare road from mp 16 to 17, then solid deep snow on road from mile post 17 on.
  8. A few weeks ago a bunch of us were going to a private cabin near White Pass. Highway was bare and dry. Private driveway was an ice rink. One car (subie, all wheel drive) cruised right up the driveway. The car I was in (front wheel drive Ford Contour) couldn't even get there with chains on the front tires. We had to get 8+ people to push the car over into the snow to get traction. Pain in the ass.
  9. Are they handing out cups of beer instead of water as you run by? If not, then no. PS - its abbreviated: St. Paddy's day. (Patty = girl, Paddy = boy) (no, I'm not Irish)
  10. My buddy has the MYO XP and we've compared them side by side and the spot is brighter (unless you plan to hike around holding down the boost?? even then the MYO XP was only very slightly brighter with the boost) I'm not so sure I trust this focus group's findings. I sense that those that have already made the purchase are seeking to justify their choice instead of making an unbaised, objective report of field data. Would you like me to get my buddy to post to confirm this? If you don't believe me then go try it out for yourself. Buy both headlamps from REI then return which ever one you are not 100% completely satisfied with.... I don't work for BD, I don't care if you like their stuff of not. Or does your lack of trust stem from my avatar pic?
  11. They do have climbing gear. I was in the Seattle REI last week and counted 7 different models of leashless tools. I bullshit you not. They only had one leashed tool (with picky fuck thing), but no body uses leashes anymore now days right? They also had a couple pairs of boots with built in crampons. You see, REI isn't for your standard alpine climber wanks. They are only catering to the hard core climbing elite. I hear they are the official and only sponsor of Gym Jones.
  12. I cut a particular junk food out of my diet right after New Years. I went from having it twice a day to not at all (maybe 1 every other weekend now). Quit cold-turkey. I didn't replace it with anything. The craving is all in you mind. It was a real difficult for a few weeks and I was feeling hungry more often, but I fought through the urges. Now I don't miss it. Its like mental training for climbing or some shit. It was really difficult but I just keep reminding myself that it is all in your mind. A powerful mind leads to a powerful body right? (I'm still waiting for the poweful body by the way..)
  13. The Spot is the headlamp Dubya would own if he was a climber.
  14. My buddy has the MYO XP and we've compared them side by side and the spot is brighter (unless you plan to hike around holding down the boost?? even then the MYO XP was only very slightly brighter with the boost)
  15. Yep, the Spot is the best headlamp ever. All my friends are jealous.
  16. what? you think Dru knows everything he talks about? Who's this 'Dru' character?
  17. Sorry, I've been busy planning the "W in '08" campaign. Its going well and i have a good feeling he will get re-elected in '08.
  18. maybe if you used hotmail all your problems would be solved?
  19. Low of -26° on Saturday night and windy. Please post TR if you make it back. http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/total_forecast/i...p;county=wac061
  20. Nice work! Toast - that is how you should be spending your time off, not sitting behind a computer!!!
  21. Guide pants are sold. walden pm'ed me first.
  22. I am. I'll probably be there from early November through the first half of December. I cancelled a trip there last year and i don't want to cancel again. I'll be in Tibet regardless though so I can decide when I'm over there.
  23. I have a Lighthouse (bigger version) and used it 3 weekends ago on an overnighter in the Tatoosh. There was snow storm that night but the winds probably didn't get over 35 mph or so where we were camped. I had no problems. I've used it in the rain a few times and have never had a problem with it leaking. Its seam sealed in all the right spots.
