That's what I like about Canada. People just work things out without getting all hot and bothered, well usually.

[TR] Snow Creek Wall, Leavenworth - Outer Space 6/3/2007

I wouldn't hurt to build a cairn on top of it, or else paint it yellow. -
Besides impeachment, what other means can be employed to reign in a president who ignores Congress and the Law?

Poison Ivy/Oak? in Wash Pass and/or Leavenworth?
catbirdseat replied to MountaingirlBC's topic in Climber's Board
Ah, you meant the freaks who can bathe in poison ivy and not get a rash. They are rare according to the literature, 10-20%. I know a woman who claims she can be exposed by driving down a road in a convertible with poison oak growing at the sides of the road. -
Most of the damage to the Middlefork Trail cited above occurred close to Goldmyer Hot Springs. It is now pretty difficult to find ones way to the Goldmyer property unless someone has flagged a route since November. Get ready for a rant by Fairweather...

Just what are you implying here? That all came from memory. The following is an excellent source if you want to spend some time reading. Everything you ever wanted to know about poisn oak, but were afraid to ask. -

This IS true. Poison oak triggers an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals. People can become more sensitve with each exposure. I am exquisitively sensitive to the stuff, having been exposed on numerous occasions as a kid. The way it works is that urushiol reacts with the proteins in your skin and alters them in such a way that your body sees them as foreign. Then the immune system basically attacks your own body. Your skin acts as a barrier to most polar substances, but urushiol is of just the right polarity to pass through the stratum corneum, given enough time. This is why you can avoid a reaction if you are able to wash with soap and water soon after exposure. -
It usually takes a MONTH to get that much rain. 3" in 24 hours is considered "heavy" in the PNW.

So "honky" is a closer approximation. I remember years ago some frat bros and I went to Ensenada. One of the guys had long blonde hair like Weekend_Climberz, which was not exactly in line with the local dress code. Some local hanging out in a doorway, said, "grrrrinngggooooo", in such a way that the meaning was clear.

I take it that Muzungu is mildly pejorative? Sort of like "gringo", "yankee", etc.?

It is most likely that you were exposed at Peshastin Pinnacles. It only takes about a day to breakout after exposure. If you have a serious case, the best course may be systemic corticosteroid treatment. -

In the mean time, you might want to tape it up really well when you go climbing to protect it. Maybe even put MoleFoam down under the tape. -
That really makes me want to climb that route. Who could resist? I mean, those jumbled boulders, that's the kicker.

Oly, I was so inspired by this TR that I found my own pair of rope guns and did both of the same routes. Yours truly led the 5.8 pitch, whining about not having enough small cams. After that, the guns took over. Man, it was fun. I think that one on the left is called Chasing the Lizard, 5.10a. Long pitch, huh? That's one not to be underestimated. It's got a bit of everything on it from fingers to offwidth. It need a little brushing out up top. Thanks, Mark and Lee.

cocaine connection icicle buttress bolts

Talk about a throwaway phrase. It belongs right up there with "That's just your opinion". -
I stand corrected. Yes, Neverland is a newer area and its not unusual for there to be problems in such areas.

I was thinking more along the lines of rapping down from above and trying to clear out some of the loose blocks that surely remain. Even if you didn't find anything to move, a close up inspection would give a lot of people peace of mind. Certainly that leaning tree could be removed. -
Be more careful with your terminology. Rebolting is replacing bad bolts with good ones. Retrobolting is something else.

I think he MEANS "Nevermind Wall". It's a pretty funny Freudian slip.

I think that a hand specialist might be a good idea. -

We got a look at the area yesterday. It was impressive. One can see what looks like a fresh scar up above in line with a leaning conifer. It looks like the main boulder dropped straight down, struck a rock surface and then bounced outward, arcing through the top of a large alder tree. -

The problem with Cocaine Connection is that people are supposed to use it to access Cocaine Crack above, but instead they continue up R&D and create a jam up (at least that's the way I regard it. With more bolts, even more people will go that way and the first pitch of R&D, which is trad, will fall into near disuse. If indeed the idea is to access Cocaine Crack, 5.10a, then such people ought to be able to handle the run out. -
So, are Bill's toys still in the prototype stage? Does he sell them?
