  1. This subject came up at rope up. A wildlife biologist spoke on closures and I was dismayed to hear that climbers are likely to be displaced even if and when raptors are fully recovered and off the threatened list. Sounds like "charismatic megafauna" management to me. I think that wildlife management should be governed by both science and statute, but not by emotions. Comments?

  5. Yeah, I think that was right before I used ALL my blue bags for the trip! Mine, this year: On J-berg, hearing Caveman yell up, "Nathan just took a 30-footer!!" I couldn't see what happened and I immediately imagined the worst. It all worked out and we learned to rappel off of shrubbery!!! Is there a trip report for that one?

  14. The point I was making is that these antibiotics are being prescribed more and more frequently these days because other older ones are encountering bacterial resistence. So watch out!
  15. It's almost too good to be true. "There's definitely fertile ground for more research. Many have stepped forward to volunteer for related research now in the planning stages," he said. Almost every woman is, at some point, going to perform the act of fellatio, but it is the frequency at which this event occurs that makes the difference, say researchers. "
  16. The last question was interesting. Which rope is better. The two were the same, except that the second had a lower impact force. Easy choice.
  17. In the context of climbers, I take the word "geek" to mean highly analytical and detail oriented. Climbers have to pay attention to details or they die.
  18. Hello, this mauling occurred in Alaska where the brown bears, which I referred to as grizzlies, are definitely NOT afraid of people. These are a different animal than the grizzly found in the lower 48.
  19. No, duh? You came to the realization just now?
  20. Grizzly mauls, kills a bear 'expert'. Newspaper Article Would you go camping in a park full of grizzlies- a park that doesn't allow firearms for your own protection?
