Uhh, While the Mounties definitely have their pros and cons which have been argued ad nauseum here, the one thing that you CANNOT say is that it is expensive! I think it's just a little over $200 for a 9 month class! That will buy you one day with Mountain Madness. There are a total of 11 days of field trips in the Intermediate Course (Rock: 5; Ice: 4; Winter/Mixed: 2).

In the last week about half of Spam has been coming from people wanting to sell this new illegal product.

Interesting.

I kind of think the families will be off by the themselves. I would if I were bringing a kid.

Yes, it is kid friendly. There is a group planning to get together for a "kids ropeup", including David Parker. Look for that phrase. There's a couple threads somewhere about it.

Sometimes you can't protect your foreign contacts. They end up in a noose.

Well now. That really proves she is your EX girlfriend, doesn't it? A clean break.
-
No, you don't when you can get some guy to do the driving.

Alpinfox, you da man!

14 keys. I have multiple rings on a biner so I can leave behind the ones I don't need when I go climbing.

When I was a kid they were still setting bon fires at Glacier Point in Yosemite and pushing it over the cliff. What did they call that? The rain of fire?

Did you guys have any ice screws with you? You are lucky that fall you took wasn't worse than it was. Looks like you have one hell of a fun climb, though.

So back to the question of trees filling in the meadows. It seems to be a natural process. Meadows are usually old lakes that have filled in with sediments, are they not? Sometimes they form when glaciers or semi-permanent snowfields retreat. Some meadows are man made. The native Americans used to set fires down by present day Fort Lewis every year to keep the trees from growing in so they would have good hunting. The trees are filling in now and rare flower species are threatened with extinction.

Karl Rove doesn't hold an office, even an appointed one. He is basically an employee of Bush's. He is a political advisor.

There is an ugly scar running straight up the hill from the Sunrise parking lot that I wondered about. It is too steep to have been created by hikers. A tow rope for skiing might have done it, but I was told there never was such a thing at Sunset. Motorcycles might well have made such a scar had they been allowed. Anyone know?.

It remains a fact that SOMEONE leaked the information. It was probably Karl "we're going to FUCK him" Rove's idea. No, we probably will never find out who made the calls, but it tells us something about the stripe of this administration that its high level members would stoop so low.

Dwayner is a study in contrasts. At his best, he is the Best (with the possible exception of Uncle_Tricky). At his worst, he ruins people's serious threads with his tired old assault on bolts. I'd kind of like to have him back, but only if he promises to not talk about bolts unless the thread is specifically about bolting.

This little article was tucked away on the sixth page of the Seattle Times section A. To summarize, two high level members of the Bush Administration leaked the identity of a CIA operative at least six Washington area journalists. Intelligence sources said top officials at the agency were very concerned about the disclosure because it could allow foreign intelligence services to track some of her fomer contacts and lead to the exposure of agents. The woman, is married to former Ambassador Joseph Wilson IV who was sent to Nigeria to determine whether Iraq had sought to purchase "yellow cake" Uranium there. He later criticized the Administration which eventually retracted the statements Bush used in his State of the Union message. An Administration official said the leaks were "simply for revenge" for the trouble Wilson had caused Bush. Let's call a spade a spade. This is treason, plain and simple. This is huge.

Get your equivalency through Seattle Branch, then take the Intermediate Course through Everett Branch. In Everett you can organize and lead your own Intermediate Climbs after three experience climbs. One must be rock and one ice. Then you can do the climbs you want to do. It's harder to become a leader in Seattle. If you don't care about collecting a graduation certificate, or the club climbs, just go to all the lectures and field trips and blow off the experience climbs.
