To achieve a blood alcohol level of 0.72% without dying requires a lifetime of practice.

I wonder if he is trying too hard to go southwest. I would think that any southing one could get would be the ticket, even if it means going somewhat east.

Which are all the same thing. Yes you are right. I was starting to say lauryl sulfonate. My breaks are short, and I have little time for coherent thought.

That's a rather vague question. You could be interested in rock or you could be interested in ice. You could do both if you were hardy enough.

Phenol is not particularly toxic or carcinogenic in low concentrations. There are more environmentally friendly non-ionics however, such as the ethoxylated sorbitan monooleate, etc. Detergents need not contain phosphates. They most commonly contain SDS or sodium dodecyl sulfate or possibly sodium lauryl sulfate, lso the sulfonate esters. In addition to detergents, the techwash may also have perfluorooctanoate, which leaves a residue on the fabric which makes it water repellant when dry.

Weather inversion(?) in winter at rainier
catbirdseat replied to snowball's topic in Mount Rainier NP
I can recall periods of nice weather in February in which there was high pressure in the eastern part of the state. Cold air was blowing in from the northeast. The lower flanks of the mountain were windy and cold, but there was less wind at higher elevation. -
I'd heard that Tvash and company were going to go to Banks, but changed their minds and went to Lilloet instead.

Okay, I made an appointment. They like my O-positive blood.

I was wondering the same thing. -

Great TR. It brings back some great memories. -
We attempted it years ago, but got shut down by bad weather on summit day. We did the approach from Schaeffer Lake.

The dude's serious. He isn't making it up.

It probably wouldn't have mattered if you'd had twice as many people to break trail. When it's that deep, it's slow going. -
An interesting writer. Have you read "The Periodic Table"?

Modesty. No tribute to Mark would be complete without a mention of one of his most compelling attributes.

They used to use an 11 mm semi-static arborist's rope at Stone Gardens. The Trango Pyramid and the B-52 worked the best.

Damn, that's really awful. Where the cars parked right on Mountain Loop Highway? Were they blocking the snow plow?

Ian Nicholson will give a slide show on his recent ascent of Mt. Waddington. The show is free and hosted by the Everett Mountaineers Club, 7 pm. First Congregational Church 2624 Rockafeller Ave Everett, WA

There are good reasons for it and I believe that Jon adequately detailed them publicly.

I'm looking forward to sleeping in on New Year's Day!

Enbrel blocks TNF and therefore can increase one's risk of cancer, but I think it's worth it if you can afford the drug. My wife can't take it for her RA because she already has cancer, and that's a bummer.

What is your Summer of 2008 Mountaineering Goal
catbirdseat replied to IceAxe18's topic in Climber's Board
1. Get a decent job so I can afford to have time off. 2. Get in to the mountains at all. -
I went to see Charlie Wilson's War and thought it was first rate! I'd give it three and a half stars. The acting was great and the script was clever. Special effects were so-so but that wasn't so important anyway. It's a movie that everyone in my family enjoyed. Don't bring young children though. Seriously.

Vertical or horizontal front points for water ice?
catbirdseat replied to northvanclimber's topic in The Gear Critic
I think I would only be interested in the step in bindings. The hybrid don't give a very solid attachment for steep ice, in my opinion. -
The program How It Is Made on the Discovery Channel had a feature on how ice tools are made. These were DMM axes made forged, starting with aluminum rod ( the Rebel ). Naturally, there must be several different processes used, depending on whether the axe is metal or composite or whether it is tubular metal or flat metal. Hopefully they'll show this segment again.
