Thats crap reporting Fairweather. No Pulitzers for you! We pay those people to find the facts. If you believe they can get those sitting on their asse's in Washington DC you are sadly mistaken. Check out this part specifically: "And there is no indication they were aware the trip was financed by Saddam Hussein's regime." Full text: " US charges man 'on Saddam's pay' The US congressmen - David Bonior, Mike Thompson and Jim McDermott - with an Iraqi official during the 2002 trip to Iraq. The lawmakers criticised US war preparations during the trip A US man who organised a trip by three US lawmakers to Iraq in the run-up to the war has been charged with working for the regime of Saddam Hussein. Muthanna al-Hanooti, who worked for an Islamic charity, was arrested on Tuesday when he entered the US from abroad, officials said. Prosecutors say Iraqi intelligence officials paid for the lawmakers' trip. The congressmen travelled to Iraq in October 2002 and expressed concern at US preparations for war. Mr Hanooti, who worked for the Life for Relief and Development, appeared in court in Detroit on Wednesday where he was released on bail. Prosecutors also said he was responsible for monitoring Congress for Iraqi intelligence - allegedly providing Baghdad with a list of lawmakers he believed favoured lifting economic sanctions against Iraq. In exchange for co-ordinating the congressional trip, Mr Hanooti allegedly received two million barrels of Iraqi oil, prosecutors said. Congressmen 'not aware' The indictment against him does not mention the Democratic lawmakers who made the trip - Jim McDermott, David Bonior and Mike Thompson. And there is no indication they were aware the trip was financed by Saddam Hussein's regime. "Obviously we didn't know it at the time," said Mr McDermott's spokesman Michael DeCesare. "The trip was to see the plight of the Iraqi children. That's the only reason we went," the Associated Press news agency quoted him as saying. At the end of their stay in Iraq, the lawmakers pressed both the Iraqi and the US administrations to allow the return of the United Nations weapons inspectors. "There is a way to solve this crisis without war," said Mr Thompson at the time. "It is for the Iraqis not to interfere and for the United States not to interfere in the inspections process." " ____________________________________________________________ Didn't Cheney go to Iran (Axis of evil) not that long ago? I want him talking to those folks. We, as a country, need direct, unbullshit filtered dialog. MHO

Disagree all you want you're still wrong if you think that isn't in the back of say: Richard Nixon's mind when he's thinking of not following a judges order stipulating that he cannot act like a King, but must also follow the laws as all citizens do. Furthermore, I do not believe that the National guard and the Army would be un-conflicted if they had to start shooting back at their brothers, sisters moms and dads. That has nothing to do with the constitution or the reason for arms to be included therein.

They don't do bolts on grit, its against tradition. I think thats why Bob was impressed with the Pearson ascent. They do relentlessly toprope it, in that case it appears he did for 4 years before the lead.

I think this is a great question Chuck. I do not know what the Iraqis decided to put into their constitution. However, it seems that before the constitution was enacted, plenty of guns, ropes remember them hanging the contractors off a bridge?), knives and roadside bombs had sadly been used to kill plenty of people. Hitler and Stalin had both successfully restricted firearms in their countries and as we didn't object then I guess we supported them then on it....so I don't know why we cannot support Maliki on this one as we're trying to get this wrapped up and get the f* out of there. I hope you find some happiness in that this is an Iraqi operation, something Americans have been complaining about. Although I do not know if they supported the right of a free militia in Iraq, we have it here. We have that for political freedom. See, I believe that the founders knew what we knew: that power comes from a barrel of a gun (ask any Iraqi), and that if you want to power to rest with the people, they get guns. Frankly, I trust all of the people I know more than I'd ever trust any politician. There is something strange in the personas of people who get drawn towards power, and I like the restraint they must show do to an armed populace. Think of Cheney, Bush, the Clintons...now think of your friends and people you know. You know this is true. An armed populas is the best and final defense for our constitution, as it keeps us all honest. I do not know what the Iraqis decided to put into their constitution. Maybe they put that it was illegal to drop poison gas from airplanes to wipe out entire cities, killing men, women and dogs: like the last ruler did more than once. I can't say. I do know about this country though. But thats me.

nother one from Backcountry gear! Backcountry gear Monster rope link Monster 9.8mm 9.8mm x 60m Standard $122.50 Monster 9.8mm 9.8mm x 70m Standard $146.30 I think these Metolius Monster ropes are made in Europe by Lanex, My pard Ujhan had a Lanex we used a lot over the last 6 or so years, and it may have been what I consider the best handling rope I've ever used. Not by a wide margin, but to me, I loved his rope more than any other. I think he'd got it at a closeout, and was embarrassed by buying a "cheap" rope when I asked what he paid (I'd expected it to be at the exact opposite of the price spectrum). Once we started using it: ahhhhh, he wasn't embarrassed at all by the handling! It still looks great, and we were using it for toproping last year and have also been trying to chop it by tossing rocks from new routes on it - but somehow missing, but for only @$100 bill, best to get a new one anyway. We have an easier future project still planned for it (I was taling with him today about trying to kill it some other way) so it won't go to waste. I don't know if these Monsters have the feature, but the Metolius 7.8mil double Monsters I have have these awesome tufts to mark the middle and 30' in, so you can find the middle mark in the dark BY FEEL, even when you AGAIN forgot your headlamp and are epicing to get off in the dark....AGAIN. As they're florescent tufts, even if you are over 50 and are on the ledge 20 feet away or over half way up Levitation you can spot the middle if you need too:-) cough* bail* cough.

Been there, done that. Good luck!

Ditto on the thanks. Jim had talked to the landowner and Oregon View road is permissible and even encouraged to park on. I am the only person I have seen to take them up on though. Don't block access to the field there as they mow it periodically, esp in the spring.

Here's your rope. Not kidding. Link As far as some of you go with your advice, one rope will do it all, people were climbing some of the hardest snow and ice around with 7/16(11mil) goldline ropes 40 years ago. They'd soak up huge water, then freeze solid into a brick or steel-like consistency and people still got up all kinds of interesting shit with them anyway. The 10mil linked will Toprope, lead, and do snow travel. Is it a dry rope? No. Is it cheap? yes. Will it work fine. Sure. Is there a better single rope for you? Maybe a dry rope. Bi-color is nice too, both cost more. You want to spend more or get multiple ropes: be my guest.

Oh, I have plenty of issues with Cheney. I don't have enough time to type them all. Ask me next time you see me. Some are pretty wild - in a teapot dome kind of way. Glad to see this crew leaving, but wondering and highly expecting if it's a out of the frying pan and into the fire kind of move with Barak. It's a sad state of affairs for choices IMO. BTW: not a criticism Kev, just curious, if you hate your job so much......have you thought about trying to get into something you do like and making yourself happy?

Alright beyotches, it's spring, time to make sure you stuff is up to snuff. Heres' a rope you should buy to replace your old POS that you don't even want to be toproping with. REI must have had some of these left over, as the dollar to Euro thing should have hit to make this a $200 rope you'd think. Like this? Click here. Edelrid Fat Rock Slim 10mm x 60m Non-Dry Rope $114.93 !

Biden wuz my bitch for Pres. When he dropped out, after only getting 2% of the vote, I lost interest. It amazes me that Obama, Mr "no specifics" is on the top of that dogpile. He's selling a dream, I like dreams too, but would like to see some history of specifics.

Do they have any that will make my ass look smaller? I'd get in line to buy some if they did.

Interesting that you brought Cheney to this party SS, as he was able to capably run a 70,000 employee private company. I think he was pretty good at it as well.

I knew someone who worked under Richardson and I was told that he was one of the worst managers ever. Ever. And an arrogant prick as well if you were under him, and not over him where you'd get your ass kissed. I got plenty of for instances, but the one that I'd never seen anyone ever do was this: Richardson would routinely call you by a different name, say if your name was Steve, he'd call you Jim. You would correct him 3-4 times and then finally give up. One of his aides later said he did that to keep underlings off balance. What a dick. And a poor manager as well.

who pointed out the man's race here? Yeah, and don't be hatin on Clowns either:

I had heard that at different times, the CRGNSA folks, the Railroad people and the State police have all stopped to check it out. They were all good with it, and merely curious what was there.

Ken, when I posted that, dru told me it had already been done like 3 or 4 times. But still a classic! To embed, just the numbers after the = sign. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk5TQFw-1E8&feature=related so this: yk5TQFw-1E8 yk5TQFw-1E8

Dogs like beer too. Hold it, who changed the header?

Yeah, it excites me too:-)

Wow, very interesting, right at that spot: it looks like the road access almost encompasses right where the cliff is, and the USA/CRGNSA is right below it. The cliff looks like the dividing line.

Kevbone keeps putting on some music stuff: bet he's never seen anything like this. Love the Red Army backup too. 0lNFRLrP014&hl
