  1. What's a "cam?" Is this some kind of trad climbing thing?
  2. Your mom's chach is getting pretty stank. Tell her to take a washcloth to that thang, eh?
  3. Since a condom won't protect her emotions, she shouldn't use one at all . Let's see how her emotions are doing when she finds out she's got the clap!
  4. Does it feel good to be Rudy every once in a while?
  5. Shit-howdy, that's a valuable innovation, there! Would you be willing to submit that for inclusion in AmazingCo, Inc.'s 2006 Compendium of Fax Machine Hacks, Cheats, and Workarounds? You'd be credited for your contribution, of course.
  6. Impressive show of restraint! Too many teabagging offers from Trask or something?
  7. What is this panty-bunching drivel? Why don't you squares take this to PM's so the rest of us don't have to stumble upon your drama-queen mewling and risk spilling precious vomit? Thx! Lv, DFA
  8. Yeah, why don't you shut the fuck up, fucker? Oh, and fuck you guys.
  9. It's definitely best to not order anything via the internet, from anyone, ever. DFA's policy is to conduct all business by fax. It's great; you put a piece of paper in the thing, and not only does the paper appear at the other person's fax machine, but you get it back, too! It's like, part "The Fly" and part refutation of the foolish assertion that matter cannot be created or destroyed. Psh. As if! Come to think of it, you could get two fax machines, and set one up in the next room or whatever, and feed dollar bills, or, like, twenties through it if you had some, and then you'd get the bills that you put in, plus the ones that materialize at the second fax machine. Give it up for science, y'all!
  10. No, the difference between a flash and an onsight is pretty widely understood and well defined. You either got the beta from someone else by talking to them or watching them climb the route, or you didn't. Period.
  11. You may need more than Vioxx; could be time for surgery. If you have good insurance, see if you can request an MRI; this can be helpful in determining the nature of an injury. And good luck, 'cause shoulder injuries blow!
  12. Gargle douchewater, you vacuous colostomy bags!
  13. EAT BALLZ, ASSEYES!
  14. Yeah, perhaps you're right. DFA is not above admitting wrongdoing, and perhaps the claws came out a bit too soon this time. A thousand pardons for issuing such hasty condemnation!
  15. Whats makes this guy so great? What sort of credentials does some anonymous "Dr." of sport climbing have that makes him always so right? Your an asshole with your ego DFA "And maybe Dr. Flash Amazing is mistaken (not likely, of course)", go clip your bolts and cry about my good friends being assholes. I'm sick of reading all of your posts in 3rd person where you talk as if your always right, and the know it all of the climbing community(I guess mainly just cascadesprayers.com). I personaly feel its fuckin lame and bullshit. Just write some normal shit instead of trying to hide yourself to hype up your identity. To answer the question of what makes Dr. Flash Amazing so great, well, as they say: if you have to ask, you'll never know, bro. Bummer! As for the rest of your tragically impotent puling, perhaps you are somewhat correct (not entirely correct, though, so don't get your hopes up). It's not really that these folks innocently headed up on an adventure climb at the SmithPark and accidentally treated the sportoid masses below to a pebble shower; acting like it's no big deal, however, and saying that it's other people's problem to not get rocks on the head? That smacks of at least as heavy a dose of ego as you ascribe to DFA. Perhaps if people would just admit they may have made a mistake and not act like they are immune to taking responsibility, the Doctor would not have passed judgment so harshly. It's obviously too late to do anything about it, and at least we can be thankful that no one really got hurt, so let's all get along from now on, 'kay?
  16. Yup, fact of life, brother. Just because it's Smith, doesn't mean that it's totally immune of objective danger. Total load of bullshit. You go unnecessarily knocking rocks on people, and make no mistake about it, you are the asshole, period. And maybe Dr. Flash Amazing is mistaken (not likely, of course), but doesn't objective danger stem from the environment or other factors out of the control of humans? So, like, if the Churning Buttress fell on 50 people gaping at someone dogging their proj, that'd be objective danger. Pigeon attack at the top of Vomit Launch; objective. Spontaneous nubbin failure on BBQ the Pope; objective. Louts dumping choss on your head; poor choice on their part. Being a gravel-dumping chosstronaut above a popular zone on a busy day at Smith is not cool.
  17. Looks like a sweet potential line up the prominent nose-like feature on this formation!
  18. If only...
  19. "This is the human condition. Only many more millenia of history and evolution will change it....maybe." So you seem to be acknowledging that the tactics in question are essentially futile. If humans are not by nature convinced to alter their behavior when confronted by the wholesale execution of their compatriots vis a vis war, etc., why not seek out other means of conflict resolution? Just because humanity continues to pursue this course of action (and why not? Taken a gander at the size, sophistication, and level of funding of our own fighting forces? So much invested in this ineffective path!) does not make it appropriate. "I support the death penalty because it is a fitting punishment for someone who kills/rapes a child. I suspect that, in order to remain pro-life consistent, I'll eventually have to cede that the death penalty is incorrect and, probably, unconstitutional." Are we any better than murderers when we kill them in turn? How can we say "this is wrong" and then turn around and do it ourselves? And what about the penalty for those who kill children in war? Does the soldier whose errant bullet kills a child deserve to die? Or is some life worth less than other life? "History sometimes says, "yes". Defeating nazi Germany wasn't a resolution to a problem? By your logi[c], the defeat of the C.S.A. didn't resolve a problem?" As for the Nazis, perhaps; it is difficult to imagine another solution, and it is true that it brought to an end one of the ugliest incidents in human history. But along with this, how many more had to die to stop this horror? "You truly DO live in that unattainable fantastic utopia that will likely never exist. Really, as long as humans possess the slightest hint of individuality, can it ever?" Clearly, it is unlikely that we'll ever all get along and stop slaughtering one another. But is the unlikelihood of this occurrence reason enough not to hope for and stand for getting as close as possible? As Selkirk said earlier in this thread, "we're all human," and, as your favorite band (that'd be Anti-Flag--ha ha) added to that, "it's time to prove it." It's always going to be unattainable if people simply accept that it is unattainable. Gotta try, or you'll never send!
  20. So now you're Dr Spock, eh? How old are your kids? Why don't you just display some humility and agree with the good Doctor for once? Or are you going to argue this point, too? Surely you are not going to hinge your dispute on the makeup of the Doctor's family (which, it should be mentioned, you know zilch about). Oh, there is a report on NPR right now about the innocent taxi driver who was tortured to death. Think his family is convinced of the necessity and efficacy of torture? Hamed Karzai sure doesn't seem too happy about it. So much for even getting off on the right diplomatic foot with a government of that's newly in place because of U.S. action. Maybe we should bomb them again?
  21. from the article I posted: Scientific research on the efficacy of torture and rough interrogation is limited, because of the moral and legal impediments to experimentation. Tom Parker, a former officer for M.I.5, the British intelligence agency, who teaches at Yale, argued that, whether or not forceful interrogations yield accurate information from terrorist suspects, a larger problem is that many detainees “have nothing to tell.” For many years, he said, British authorities subjected members of the Irish Republican Army to forceful interrogations, but, in the end, the government concluded that “detainees aren’t valuable.” A more effective strategy, Parker said, was “being creative” about human intelligence gathering, such as infiltration and eavesdropping. “The U.S. is doing what the British did in the nineteen-seventies, detaining people and violating their civil liberties,” he said. “It did nothing but exacerbate the situation. Most of those interned went back to terrorism. You’ll end up radicalizing the entire population.” .... Also torture isn't always about getting information, it's about humilating people and displaying total control over another human. A lot of sicko dictators just do it because they can and because they like it...bloodthirtiness...not for any noble causes. Nice. It's so funny; this is such a basic concept. It's like disciplining a child; you can scream at them, spank them, humiliate them, and tell them how "bad" they are, and you might gain temporary compliance (or more likely teach the child to fear you and simply resort to lying or sneaking around behind your back), but in the long run, the child will grow to resent you and possibly him- or herself, leading to further misbehavior...see a pattern?
  22. Cute, Fairweather; but first of all, DFA doesn't just think things because other people with similar points of view think them--but thanks for implying as much. Also, this fellow is stating his opinion about a completely hypothetical situation; in an interview about a year after 9/11 no less...But if you want to go along with the conjecture of some semi-famous liberal fella, that's your prerogative. And, again, the scenario in question is straight out of a movie. Next time a situation actually arises when the bomb squad locates the conveniently ticking time bomb with thirty minutes to go, and a knowledgeable suspect is conveniently located sometime thereafter, and some means of coersion causes the suspect to help stop the bomb, then we can talk. Until then, maybe you should go easy on the "24" DVDs, hmm? As for your assertion that torture has been used for years and so must be effective...why are there still terrorists? Why are we still fighting wars? If torture, violence, and killing were really that effective, don't you think they would have had some lasting impact on the global state of affairs? All we see is more war, more terror, more dictators, etc. Likewise has the death penalty done little to ameliorate the commission of murder. The cliche bumpersticker question "why do we kill people who kill people to show them that killing is wrong?" is an apt one. These actions, such as war and the death penalty, sate a desire for revenge, but do they really solve problems? History says "no."
  23. God, Fairweather; the Doctor loves watching ALIAS, too; that shit's a kick in the ass...but that's not how the world really works!
  24. "I hate people like you who just complain all day long but do nothing to make their world or community a better place...Should I continue?" Yeah, those damn do-nothing complainers. Also, you don't know fuck about what the good Doctor actually does with regard to furthering the ideals he values, so, to quote you, "nice try, dickhead." And, no, you've probably said enough on that topic. Volumes, actually. "No I'm not too concerned about the people who are being tortured because what [am] I going to do about it? Did I say innocent people should be tortured? No I didn't, that is wrong. There is no disconnect, but I'm not going to show compasion for people who don't by no means deserve it. I'm also not blind to the fact there are times when desperate times require desperate measures." So what is it about raising people's awareness of an issue such as this that incites your ire so? You decry people who "do nothing;" yet you provide an internet discussion forum, which is a great way for people to share ideas, formulate opinions, and share information. Do you think that all these things are useless or contribute nothing to decisions people make or actions they might take? If it works for climbing, why not for mobilizing politically or socially? Without awareness, then people are blind to issues, and it's guaranteed no one will get around to doing anything. "Hey isn't this where you post some lyrics to a song I don't care about?" How would DFA know what to post? What if the Doctor accidentally posted lyrics you really cared about, that touched you deep down in some secret special place? Nah, that might totally backfire. No lyrics for you!
