first ski descent [TR] Dragontail - TC ski descent 4/4/2006
JoshK replied to TeleRoss's topic in Alpine Lakes
The Stewart GC wouldn't make much of a ski. The coulior itself is most certainly skiable (I've climbed it) but after that you are simply climbing on the west ridge.- 57 replies

first ski descent [TR] Dragontail - TC ski descent 4/4/2006

Nice job, Ross! I knew this would go a few years ago when I climbed the thing in what would have been absolutely perfect skiing conditions. Unfortunately, without skis, it was a horrid mega-wallow all the way up. I'm glad you tagged it - I had caught wind of multiple "obsessed" attempts! -josh- 57 replies

I think plenty of people on this board know me, know I don't hide behind an IP, and know where to find me. It's your conservative kicked-as-a-child beta-male ass that posts behind a fake name, after all. Now, what say you, KK, for yourself? It's a year later and your band of crooks is quickly crumbling. Don't you have anything to add to edumacate us liberals on why everything is going according to plan?
-
KK, F'weather and the like are total fucking idiots. A year later and none of them even post anymore. Every idiotic thing they argued for has fallen flat on its face. Please grace us once more with your presence and let us hear what you have to say for yourselves today.

[TR] Hyalite, Pine Creek, Cooke City- 3/26/2006
JoshK replied to DanielHarro's topic in Ice Climbing Forum
Ummm...do you mean mainted all year, including being opened in winter, or something? Cause if you are referring simply to paved and maintained roads then there are plenty in CO higher than that. Independence Pass crosses the divide at over 12k. Even I-70 crosses several 11k+ passes. The Eisenhower Tunnel which crosses the divide *through* the mountain is way up there too. -
Great pics, Klenke! Makes me want to get in the Monte Cristo group for some skiing like I did a few years back. It's a truly great area.

Oh god, that is so suck...

Brilliant... Might want to evaluate the snow pack a little better next time - those climbs are definitely pretty exposed to danger. -
first ascent [TR] Abiel Peak- North Face Possible FA 3/11/2006

Awesome. Yet another route on the exact same face. My question is when the need to put up a "FA" will degrade into a route which involves nothing more than hiking up through some trees while carrying an ice tool.
-
The ski traffic is just way to heavy for that crap road. I-70 even backs up going back into the flatlands from Summit County in CO on the weekend afternoons sometimes, and that is a major highway. I'm just cuirous how many more people need to die on US2 before they fix it.

Yup yup, it's badass for sure. Is that a Scurlock picture?

So you guys forming a group to compete with the Mounties or something? Remember - maximum party size is 12 within most wilderness areas...
-
Sooooo...anybody know what the people camped in front of niketown were there for?
-
Dear Canada, can we trade you the South for something, anything!? Please!!?
-
PDF!? Not cool...

Modern "mixed" climbing is soooooooooo much more contrived than any of today's extreme skiing so I find it odd that climbers would throw stones at those doing what it takes to ski steeper and more difficult lines.
-
What makes it particularly annoying is if that particular route, with it's very short approach, is not in then there are about 2 million other things to do within a few miles.
-
Congrats bud! You now have the perfect canvas on which to create your perfect climber! Screw baby food - serve him mashed up for brekfast!
-
Yeah, most roads are going to be covered pretty well due to not only the volume of snow but the relatively low snow levels all winter. It's going to be a snow meltout this spring too I would think.

We could run a security gate and check for drugs and alcohol. Those without both will be kindly asked to leave.
-
Yeah, I don't think the Slot is any sort of hidden run.

I like how the lawyer purports that the trademark laws are there to "protect consumers from getting confused." (paraphrased) Good to know that they are just doing the rest of us a favor. I would have been seriously fucked if I had bought the wrong Pea in a Pod baby product.
