  1. bike approaches are kinda cool. I agree - go used. I like my carbon frame but lots of people don't like the dead feeling Will mentioned. Other than that - much like climbing gear - i would put weight at the top of my list for conerns. -josh
  2. A pretty cool looking little climb. I have been on Mount Catherine before and I didn't know anything like that was back there.
  3. Cool, thanks. I figured about that. You can definitely survival ski in these boots but if the need really arises for that it can be rather frightening. I'll save the slot for when i get back in May.
  4. John, your pictures are a constant source of motivation to get out in the hills for me. Oh, and your site is also the very first thing I show to Coloradans who think that they actually have real mountains.
  5. hells yeah, way to get after that shit Sky and Ross. Wayne tipped me that you guys were thinking of making the attempt when we were skiing the other day. I honestly thought you guys would just be plowing too much snow to make it all the way. Glad I was wrong!
  6. How steep is this coulior? I don't buy guidebook hyperbola... I only have an pair of floppy lace up boots that lack control and didn't want to get into anything too steep. Looks like a great line. thanks, -josh
  7. I drove through on i-90 two days ago and there isn't any ice anywhere in the area. It was very warm (mid 40s) and mostly cloudly. As others alluded to - it looked like great rock climbing weather.
  8. Jeebus...that's some fucked up shit.

ken4ord, thanks for one of the more eerie lost hiker stories i've heard...

    WARNING TO ALL

Which one of the mattress (or was it furniture??) places featured "Sonny Cobe Cook" (or something like that), a short haired female spokesperson who I likened to the female Tom Shane.
  11. Dustin, do you still think this president has been anything but an undeniable failure?
  12. Couldn't have said it better, Will....

    TR: ABC MOUNTAIN

That dude is pretty fucking wired.
  14. So is a constant nasal drip a sign of allergies? I have that along with the itchy eye bullshit. I've never allergies before but my current condition sounds like allergies and it hasn't gone away for a few days. It's about as cool as prison.
  15. Does the total disintigration of the Bush administration have anything to do with the slow dissapearance of our formerly vocal right wing CC contigent? Discuss.
  16. I had a pair of e2s then I upgraded to the e4s. The e2s are nice phones to be sure but the e4s sound night and day better. Of course they are about $180.
  17. Do you know current trail conditions to get to this climb and what parking permit I will need? Do you realize you are in violation of several mountie wilderness ethic codes, specifically section 2, paragraph 8, which regards destruction of devil's club for purposes other than use of toilet paper? Were you the same two guys handing out candy at my kid's elementary school?
  18. Is it the giant obvious one trending to the right? It looks much lower angle from that perspective. It certainly does look like a classic ski line. I have faith Sky and/or his compatriots will return...
  19. How is TC *not* in? Did you even try to climb it? If you did not I don't think you can say it is not "in." It's three snow gullies connected by short steps of ice/rock. If there isn't ice in the connecting bits, climb the rock. This climb is really well described in Jim's book, including what to do if you don't find ice. I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but claiming TC is "not in" seems like an excuse to not try it cause it may be harder than you want. The only reason it should not be a go is if you judge there to be a high avalanche risk in ascending the route.
  20. How do you figure?
  21. Eric, you are an evil man looking only to get newbies killed. Shame on you.
  22. A moderator might want to move this into the oregon folder rather than the N cascades
  23. Do BASE jumpers ever get fined for rescues as climbers and skiers have occasionally?
  24. I figured it was a good portion roads since I couldn't see how the hell a trail would get from WA to MT and manage to avoid all (or most) civilization. A mule? I planned on riding a Pony the whole way.
