If you want to eliminate the biner, a bowline knot would work well in that situation.
  2. Thanks for the clarification (upon review, your original post is a bit ambiguous). My faith in you is restored.
  3. quote: Originally posted by Dr Flash Amazing: Snopes debunked that one, sadly, as a crafty Photoshop job. And, really, W's large-scale stupidity far outweighs some lens caps or an inverted book (real or otherwise). All the same, what a dumbass! My good Dr, I believe your powers of observation slipped this time. Maybe it's a result of cc.com deprivation the other day (or some other easily explained reason). But here's what Snopes really said about the photo. " Real? Manipulated? We can't say for sure, but either way these photographs demonstrate nothing beyond the trivial. As much as we may enjoy poking fun at our politicians, they aren't so clueless that they don't know binoculars don't work with the lens caps in place, or would stand confusedly staring through capped binoculars at total blackness for several minutes at a time. The Presidents in these pictures might be looking through night-vision scopes (which would be capped but still usable during daylight), or they may have been handed capped binoculars which they briefly raised their eyes before realizing the caps were still in place while a photographer or two managed to snap pictures during those brief instances. " In any case, Snopes is a cool site with loads of great pics. Thanks for the tip. [ 11-21-2002, 11:11 AM: Message edited by: Thinker ]

Well I doubt you'll find anyone to compete with you for the title of 'CC.com Resident Expert on Sheep Vaginas.' I deem you the expert.
  5. In my college biology lab they told us the pig uterus we were disecting looked alot like a human uterus. Don't know about sheep for sure. I never understood that, given the multiple birthing tendency of swine.
  6. there, that's more chocolate's size.....

  11. I climbed the Tooth this year with 2 German friends. The best line from them on that trip was this (as they were looking quizically at a can of cheez whiz on the summit): "made with 10% real cheese...what is this. Ist das nicht Kase?" I guess you had to be there, it was hilarious, esp the expressions on their faces. [ 11-18-2002, 04:36 PM: Message edited by: Thinker ]

  14. yep, ya gotta love life when the biggest thing you have to complain about is the quirkyness of the cc.com board.
  15. from that thread: "the plastic bit of the Belay Master wasn’t on the locker at the time (it got nicked). .......it most likely seems that the locker became crossloaded at the factor 2 point..." I personally like the DMM Belaymaster when belaying from a belay loop. When I finally started using the belay loop, I noticed that my big BD pear-shaped biners were regularly (several times an hour) catching on the loop and being oriented in a cross-loaded position. Not a good thing. After using the Belaymaster for most of a season, I give it a thumbs up. In addition, a gri-gri has some inherent problems for soloing. A soloist is much better suited for the task IMHO. If I remember correctly, Petzl recommends that the gri-gri NOT be used for soloing. [ 11-15-2002, 12:46 PM: Message edited by: Thinker ]
