  1. fyi, I stumbled into the China Clipper (WAY North) recently on a Tuesday and was pleasantly surprised to find they have $2.50 ANYTHING every Tuesday. Prolly kinda far for the Ballard/Fremont whiners , but a candidate to toss into the mix for some week.
  2. We can certainly do that.....What's her email address?
  3. Actually Pub Club is not all about singles meeting singles...in fact, that usually only happens in Erik's dreams. Pub Club includes a number of married/attached folks amongst the hordes of horny (frustrated) singles. So, SURE, bring the single sided gals along with you! Bring your married folk, too. I'm sure you'll make quite the stir! This may be worth showing up for.......
  4. I heard 2nd hand from a former Zymogenetics employee that an air filtration system installed in their building a while back plugged up very quickly, the cause being the massive amounts of particulates (exhaust, rubber bits, etc.) in the area (very near I-5). The situation was fixed by installing some super prefilters upstream of the hepa filters. Now they have 'good' air to breath. But, yes, I'd be concerned about raising children or exercising near any urban interstate....how about those Howe St stairs?
  5. reminds me of an old joke from back home: What does 'Iowa' stand for? Idiots out wandering around. No REAL offense intended.... btw, I looked at your 'homepage', which is the Iowa State Mtnrs club site. It broght back some fond memories of Blue Mounds, MN, the first place I ever roped up and called 'On Belay?'. BM and Pallisade Park, SD were my mainstays during my sentence in the midwest.
  6. Nice idea. I wonder if anyone has considered the rammifications of exercising in a sewer of noxious gasses? carbon monoxide and particulate emissions from the interstate above are heavier than air and likely just sink to the ground in the immediate area. (I model this kind of thing at my day job.) Children, asthmatics, and other particularly susceptible folks may want to think twice before spending too much time in the area.
  7. Nice work Ray! Show THAT to ANY little sweetie and you're SURE to get a date!
  8. I thought Trask had done time in the Peace Corps......

    Dogs?

from web page Golden Gate National Recreation Area (CA) Two Canine Rescues On the morning of January 5, ranger Lopez-Milano received a report that a visitor's dog was stuck on one of the sandstone cliffs above the Pacific Ocean at Fort Funston. The visitor said that he was walking his dog off-leash when it disappeared over the cliff edge. He saw that the dog made it to the bottom of the cliff and was dodging large waves that were hitting the base of the cliff. When a friend went to rescue the 50-pound dog, he and the dog became stranded half way up. Ranger Eddy was lowered to the pair and outfitted both in harnesses (the dog's was specially-designed for such rescues). All were then raised to the top. Ranger Warmerdam received a similar report the next afternoon less than a mile north of the first incident. This time, the dog was alone on a tiny shelf on an unstable 100-foot cliff above the ocean. The 120-pound bull mastiff, named "Astro," had become stranded there while wandering off leash. The owner said that she saw the dog disappear over the cliff edge and had called for help. Warmerdam was lowered to "Astro," outfitted the dog in a large dog harness, and raised it to the top. Lopez-Milano was IC. The park has an ongoing problem with dogs off leash in all areas, and has had a concomitant increase in dogs and visitors falling off the cliffs at Fort Funston. Rangers have purchased, trained with, and employed two sizes of specialized dog harnesses in response to this upswing in canine rescues. Citations are regularly issued to rescued visitors in these cases. Warnings and citations are being used to address the issue of dogs off leash.

  11. That's been my weapon of choice for the last 2 years, too. I'm totally happy with it. Outdoor n More carries the interchangeable picks for it, in the event you can't get to MEC for them.
  12. How about a fan directed at the top of the monitor. The drafty spot may not be so attractive. If you want to get fancy, you could put the fan, a loud radio, or a squirt gun on a motion activated switch, so that when the cat jumps up there's a consequence.
  13. Several cylinders of chicken wire, approx 2 inches in diameter, linked together side by side, enough to cover the top of the monitor. Allows plenty of air circulation, would be uncomfortble for a cat to step on as their feet would tend to go into the holes. if needed, a few hair brushes placed in the matrix could provide a little more 'uncomfortable' factor.
  14. And if something goes wrong, it's a great fireworks display for the neighbors....
  15. Whatchoo talkin bout, Otis?
  16. I've just had the joy of cleaning up a few labs after they've been busted or dumped along side the road when the meth heads get too paranoid. After seeing what they use for solvents and catalysts there's no way in HELL I'd snort that stuff.
  17. The only reactant in the recipee above that could be used to cook meth is the hydrochloric acid. Sulfuric acid is preferred, though.
  18. Sounds like someone in Rhode Island got ahold of your chemistry lab notebook and tried that out last night....
  19. I wonder how they'd work in place of traditional pulleys for crevasse rescue?
  20. actually mouse traps are an effective way to train dogs to stay out of the trash and off the couch. the traditional spring loaded traps may be a bit too heavy duty for cats, but there are some available that spring with less force.
  21. A few strategically placed bicycle spokes should do the trick. Nothing that would hurt the cat, but just enough to make it uncomfortable for her to lay down on the monitor.
  22. If I recall, there were two people using the king5 avatar during the last fiasco.
  23. Create and avatar for her and turn her loose here.....
  24. What ever you do....keep her away from Trask!
