  1. Mr. Jizz, Jeff and John are indeed not related, so there is clearly a limit to my wrongness. Wrong perhaps, but not wrong wrong wrong. Besides, if you ask Jeff Long, he'll assert that the film was written on his pilfered premise.
  2. Yes, the degree to which any mainstream movie is off base with regards to climbing has always made me wonder if they're that far off on things I know nothing about, like firearms & military stuff (well, I do know that people don't fly across the room when you shoot them, that's just basic physics), or golf & fly fishing for that matter. You can always tell the climbers in the theater at something like Vertical Limit, they're the ones who laugh at seemingly inappropriate moments. My favorite WTF moment in Eiger Sanction was when they were on the Eiger and the guy fell, Clint was holding him on belay, but the single pin was straining, slipping, about to blow, but right at the last moment a hand reached out and grabbed Clint's jacket and phew, it was all okay.
  3. You mean Jeff Long, unrelated to John. Angels of Light wasn't a half bad read.
  4. Extensive discussion from last march: link Not bringing much gear? Here's some ideas with total time commitment: Top roping at Woodson - half day Bouldering at Santee - 3 hours Top rope or sport at Mission Gorge - half day Bouldering at Boomer Beach - 3 hours I'll be in Joshua Tree, PM me if you want to come out and join the party for a day.
  5. Nice rebuttal compendium Choada, gonna have to bookmark that for the next time some turdther blabbers at me about what's the best brand of tinfoil to keep the CIA out of my head.
  6. Yes, this thread is about Dave's unfortunate early demise, let's keep the Alien discussions in the threads related to those cams, both as a matter of respect and in the interest of keeping all that information in the same place. thanks all
  7. I'm sad to hear this, what a drag.
  8. Looks kinda chossy, is that Boston? I assume you're referring to the face you can see in the side of the mountain?
  9. There's a book at the end of all this, right? I'm in for a copy, it'll be a great tale. Thanks for the various updates on your research.
  10. Outstanding, thanks for the link.
  11. While I on the other hand, really appreciated that old Fugazi clip, very nice.
  12. Ian MacKaye, preschool educator [video:youtube]
  13. In particular you should find that Fugs tune, Amphetamine Bum. I've got a compilation from a friend with that song on it, and its flat out amazing regardless of the year it was recorded.

If reading their posts just aggravates him and leaves him unhappy, ill-tempered, and prone to saying things best left unsaid, then using the "ignore" function is a reasonable response. As a moderator, I've never considered the ignore button an option, I need to be able to read anything anyone writes. In truth, I'm seldom tempted by it anyway, even if once in awhile someone punches one of my buttons.
  15. Heels behind his ears and begging for more, I tell you, that Bill is a helluva sweet ride.
  16. I don't believe the Capitol Forest has ever had a bear mauling, and they're quite rare in the state as a whole. The only fatality in Washington that casual research turned up was a 4 year old girl killed near Glenwood, WA in 1974. Wikipedia has an interesting List of Fatal Bear Attacks in North America. Fear is not a rational thing though, so accurate information and an understanding of statistics may not be enough. Also, bears are complex intelligent animals with a wide range of behaviors. Like people, some will help you when you're in need and others will take everything you own.
  17. Hmmm, Tvash hasn't been posting either. Choada, could you call 911 again?
  18. Q: Why is Beacon Rock like a Roach Motel? Anyone got any pictures of this route?
  19. Well, I can offer you a song with a Human League reference in the lyrics... [video:youtube]
  20. I think Porter's pointing out that it's lame to make fun of someone for posting climbing content rather than blabber about what some blowhard said on the radio. Thanks for restating yourself Pilchuck, I know that for me chalking is at least partially a calming ritual, and it helps even when the little sack is almost completely empty.
  21. I put this one up special for you Kev [video:youtube]
  22. Here's one from our friends up north [video:youtube]
  23. Jeffrey Lewis though rocks my dome, he just played Olympia in this woman's garage: [video:youtube]
