I suspect that if I started a brand where I used the Nike logo upside I might get sued too. I do think its pretty funny, and the North Face should have a sense of humor about it, since no one is likely to confuse the two brands, and before all the publicity, the South Butt was hardly a contender to do any damage to TNF's market share. Damn Curt, that's a helluva story. Every year we see through to the next one is a good year, eh? No such dramatic events for me, it's just been a fun year; a little more climbing than last year, not quite as much as next year will bring. The Wednesday gig at the crag in my yard continues to be a source of joy: even when crushed by work I know I'll be climbing at least one day a week, and this year we had a bunch of new people and I made a stack of new friends. In fact, I got to go climbing with a lot of my favorite people over the year, gonna have to do that again.

If you're interested in the subject, I suggest you schedule an interview with Portland Mountain Rescue or some other reputable Search and Rescue outfit and publish some real information based on facts and experience, rather than a silly popularity poll designed to increase web traffic.

I'd like to add that the Gerber-Sink is a great summer route too, finishing either with the top of the Hidden Couloir route which traverses the ledge at the base of the Fin to a direct finish (easier) or up the Fin as per the top of Backbone. The crux of the lower part is the chimney in the last photo Scott posted, likely to be running with water in the early season. Better than Serpentine by far.
