Oh, and I think the people to inform are your legislators, not a tv station opinion poll.
-
You are the journalist, right? That's your job. Polls are not about disseminating information, they're BS sampling tools to determine if opinion manipulation has been successful. edit: never mind, I read your post above and realize you're with the art dept, not reporting. Still, feel free to tell them they're acting stupid

Okay Trash & Dru, does this work better for you?
-
Its total choss, teetering stacks of rotten blocks, serious kitty litter granite. A couple guys from Colorado tried it a few years ago.

I think the two of you need to do more climbing together and patent the partnership name: WayneBeau sickie Nice pics, thanks for the tale. No video, eh? -
Damn Curt, that's a helluva story. Every year we see through to the next one is a good year, eh? No such dramatic events for me, it's just been a fun year; a little more climbing than last year, not quite as much as next year will bring. The Wednesday gig at the crag in my yard continues to be a source of joy: even when crushed by work I know I'll be climbing at least one day a week, and this year we had a bunch of new people and I made a stack of new friends. In fact, I got to go climbing with a lot of my favorite people over the year, gonna have to do that again.

I spent awhile weeding out the MLU/PLB debate out of this thread, it's just not appropriate here. I moved those posts to the New Poll thread which you will find here. It's a valid subject, I just don't want to see it intermingled with this thread. To my regret, I'd never met Luke, but have always enjoyed his TR's. All my best to everyone touched by this event.

I could be wrong, but I thought Willi Unsoeld and Janie Diepenbrock had cords out when they died on Mt Rainier in 1979.

Phil, climbers are outnumbered by the ignorant public 1000 to 1, but that never stops the idiot mob from having an opinion based entirely on their uniformed biases and media shaped perceptions. If you're interested in the subject, I suggest you schedule an interview with Portland Mountain Rescue or some other reputable Search and Rescue outfit and publish some real information based on facts and experience, rather than a silly popularity poll designed to increase web traffic.

How many people climb Mt Rainier in January?
Off_White replied to goatroper's topic in Climber's Board
With regards to the original question, the answer is the same as with so many other climbing related questions: "Well, that all depends..." -
Besides, it's "this un" not "these uns." Bad photoshop clone.

I think you've failed to grok the most important fashion accessory in her ensemble: the knee pads.

Fifty (or more) Favorite Climbs in the PNW

I'd like to add that the Gerber-Sink is a great summer route too, finishing either with the top of the Hidden Couloir route which traverses the ledge at the base of the Fin to a direct finish (easier) or up the Fin as per the top of Backbone. The crux of the lower part is the chimney in the last photo Scott posted, likely to be running with water in the early season. Better than Serpentine by far. -
What do you mean by "that area?" Area as in LA, or do you mean closer? If Josh is cold, consider San Diego, specifically Eagle Peak. photo credit: Kevin Worral

Peter, you're a dirty dirty boy.

Yup. And I kind of agree, too. There is a lot of overpriced crap sold to willing buyers based on marketing... Nooo Matt, I meant I agreed with him on this CLIMATE subject!

Even in winter, Hidden Valley Campground is usually full. The trick to finding a site is to park your car, walk around, and chat people up. Find out who is leaving, or who has room for another car & tent at their site and is willing to share. Just driving around the loops won't do you any good, but some people skills will get you a site every time. For a first visit, HVCG is definitely the place you want to be. Oh, and hope for a site with good sun exposure, even with good weather it will be cold in the shade.

You should also consider the possibility that other poster's reaction is not about your opinion, its about you personally, your tone of voice, your presentation of yourself.
-
Pope, your opinion is still represented in that thread. Its time for you to stop acting like a child.

Uh, Rudy? That's Pink's favorite picture of me circa 1977, and I am that old.

Sorry mam, we don't have an "I Saw U" forum. More biographical info might help with an id: male or female? estimated age? significant ascents? recent trips? lives where? physical description? political orientation? sprayer or lurker? -
Hey, congratulations Klenke!
