Huh, I was only aware of the one just west of Easy Pass, and thought that Fisher Pass was actually up a side stream that's a couple miles further down the valley. Haven't been to the pass, but I recall it being described in the Logan Cross Country Route in the Green Beckey. I looked up the slope the guide said to go up while heading into the Douglas Glacier end of Logan.

Erik, I just love that you're ever the optimist. Have a good weekend, I look forward to part II.

I think Cyclop's Eye is one of the all time great "take someone climbing for the first time" routes. Time was there was a sofa on top for taking in the sunset.

Kev, I think Pope put it here on purpose. Sure, he likes to stir the pot, but I don't think he's spraying here. I'm leaving this here because I want to see the subject treated with some respect. Agree or disagree, the conversation has merit.

Sure, and some old school 5.9 testpieces like Papa Woolsey and The Waterchute. There's a lot more that are (were?) worse, the dreaded Joshua Tree 5.9, but I'm drawing a blank on the names.

There are plenty of lines at Smith that are not sport routes. I don't share Pope's perspective, but I don't doubt his sincerity or character. Pope's suggestion is in the fine tradition of peaceful protest. This is the Climbers Board, not Spray, and as a moderator I'd ask everyone to discuss the ideas rather than trash the personalities involved. Passion is fine, but insult is inappropriate.

It's no giveaway, but I've always loved that kind of climbing. Probably due to the nature of bouldering at Santee and the fact that the trail to Suicide was easier and shorter than the one to Tahquitz.

The ACLU has done something to offend everyone, that's a point in their favor in my book.

Great routes not mentioned yet: Breakfast of Champions Rubicon Illusion Dweller Solid Gold Bird on a Wire Run for your Life I've always wanted to do I Can't Believe It's a Girdle, it might be great...

A friend tried it solo once, had a total meltdown. He took shelter in the pod towards the top until a rope could be lowered to him.

It's still too early to find much in the used Dodge/Freightliner Sprinter department, but that would be pretty grand. 27 mpg with a 5 cylinder Mercedes diesel, and they handle really well. They've only been importing them a few years now, though they have a long track record in Europe as a Mercedes delivery van.

Does John do that headstand thing a lot? Someone should introduce him to BCMountaingirl (or some name like that), isn't she the one that does summit cartwheels? Happy happy John.

No, I think other things came up that added to the complexity of home, work, and educational life.

Rose & Raindrop? It's a little deeper in than you're looking, but they have Terminal Gravity on tap. Personally, I think that should be your first criteria in site selection.

hear hear! John, I bet you'd do the DC for the right girl.

Saucy answer, but the question is valid. That highway is washed out on either side of Hood Meadows. If they're talking about what is good for Hood River, I'm thinking they must mean that stretch from the Columbia on up, and you still can't get to the Meadows from Government Camp.

Incredible site, I found the link courtesy of our friends at Supertopo. You can waste a lot of time playing find the climber: the guy lounging with the pig on Half Dome, party on the nose, folks topping out on Zodiac, a couple unattended bags somewhere on El Cap, looks like someone on S Face of the Column. Probably not a good place to go for those on dial up... website

Has musicianship left modern popular music? (pt 1)

I was thinking of his work with the Stinky Puffs, never knew they were that big a thing. -

Janet from Sleater-Kinney is a brilliant drummer. Dave Grohl was a much better drummer than guitar player. Billy Conway from Morphine played with both great restraint and passion. Huh, guess all those bands are defunct too. -
Got two turntables and a microphone... where it's at. You're not going to qualify as a "younger guy" for much longer little mister...

You should reconsider your bias Rudy, a little extra weight just makes you go down the hill faster, and short just means less wind resistance. You could be a 5.9 skier in no time.

That's kind of a cool construct, got a story to go with it?
