Now that you're a citizen, when are you going to run for office?

I think NPR is currently running on a 13% federal funding subsidy. If public funds were cut off I'm sure they'd have to take on a more mainstream approach to advertising, rather than the "support provided by blah blah" version of advertising lite they currently use.

similar thread on Supertaco with much more information

On any number of occasions I've run across bolt placements that led me to wonder "what were they thinking?" Thanks to Brian for offering up some proof that they were in fact thinking. It's somewhat remarkable for a route developer to step up to the plate to answer a disgruntled question. BTW: original post in this thread is more than a year old

Hey now, be careful out there. Your girlfriend wants the whole crew back safe.

I knew who greased it at some point in the past, but that factoid has slipped from my grasp. I do know who pilfered his pins from The Stigma though....

City of Rocks - 2 weeks ago

It could be fine, it will depend on wind and sun. A lot of the best rock gets afternoon sun, so slow starts can be beneficial. Castle Rock State Park is a little lower, the Comp Wall area is probably the warmest rock in the area with decent wind shelter. Things down in the valley like Tahitian Wall and the White Wall should be pleasant and toasty if the sun is out. Site 18 down that way offers some great warm ups if you need things in the 5.8 to 5.8 range. Hot Springs in Almo are open Th-Fri 5-10 Sat 1-10, not to be missed.

Canon Tajo, southeast of San Diego, offers some great Joshua Tree type climbing on domes along the rim, as well as the larger Trono Blanco with grade IV & V routes facing out over the edge of the plateau. All my info is 20 years old and rather useless. A maze of woodcutter roads through the pinyon pines will take you there. There is no guidebook, but there are hundreds of routes. Try contacting a guy named John Smallwood in San Diego, he's more or less the keeper of the flame. Bear in mind that winter can be dodgy, one of the nicknames for the place is "poor man's patagonia." -
With the upcoming time change this weekend, the Wednesday session is over for the year. It was great to have the weather cooperate for the last evening, and thanks to all who made it out for this season. I'm going to unsticky this thread until we start up again. Conditions permitting, you can climb here on other days, but must receive explicit permission for your outing. PM me for details.

Oh, that sucks. Over the years I've run into Todd all over the place, and his boundless enthusiasm was always a kick in the pants. I remember years ago in the Gunks (my one day ever in the Gunks) we were laughing and joking about running into each other out there and this older fellow came walking down the trail. When Todd stopped to ask the guy how it went, he broke into a huge smile and described how psyched was to have led his first 5.6. Todd's pleasure at the man's success and stoke were so obvious, waving his hands in the air and talking about other moderates to put on the tick list. Far from being a standoffish "magazine climber," he really empathized with the feelings climbing brings and understood that pushing your own personal limits was the same thing no matter what grade you were climbing. Say what you want about his style or undeniable bent towards shameless self promotion, he was a good person and it makes me very sad that I'll never see his goofy grin again.

I'm back, but it's pretty dank out here, I think we're shut down for the day.

God reached his hand down from the sky He flooded the land then he set it on fire He said, "Fear me again. No, I'm your father. Remember that no one can breathe underwater" So bend your knees and bow your heads Save your babies, here's your future Yeah, here's your future God reached his hand down from the sky God asked Noah if he wanted to die He said no sir Oh, no, sir God said here's your future It's going to rain So we're packing our things We're building a boat Where God will create the new master race Cause we're so pure Oh, we're so pure So here's your future God told his son it's time to come home I promise you won't have to die all alone I need you to pay for the sins I create His son said, "I will but Dad, I'm afriad" Yeah, so here's your future Here's your future Yeah, here's your future So here's your future So here's your future So here's your future

When we arrived the first night last year we wound up at some collegiate bonfire, drank some of their beer and talked to some folks before it sunk in that the female to male ratio was way too even for this to be the right crew. A couple familiar faces who made the same mistake (?) delayed my conclusion as well. Shortly thereafter we made our way to the proper dirtbag festivity where I stopped receiving befuddled looks from people who couldn't figure out why someone brought their dad.

Eric, don't let the 10d/11a rating put you off, the hard part is relatively short and the crack is good, you could always french free or aid the 20 feet or so of hard stuff, then have nothing harder than 10a or so in the rest of the crack. You could also use my approach, which was to bring along the ropegun. Nice pics Downfall, thanks for sharing. -
Oooh, the Linkster is back in action!

I think you meant to say backdoor, not backyard. Of course, you're much too old for those NAMBLA types, but maybe not for me, eh hot stuff?

Aside from an inconsequential bit of sexual orientation, there isn't much difference is there? Uhmmm, thanks for sharing Choada.
