east ledges certainly aren't bad, but do require care, as you say - mostly i suspect people feel more comfortable w/ the devil they know and figure the way they came up wasn't so bad - i've come down both ways, and only managed to mangle meself on the east option

plenty of nice folk out there, and while i typify the mediocrity mentioned above, there ARE some extremely strong folks getting off the beaten path too i, for one, like to see folks ('specially when they're not butt-ugly old guys) making their first trip to the bacon-wand and having fun on a classic route ('specially when they leave booty behind ) if you liked young warriors, come back and give jill's thrill or right gull a whirl.

i think kenny's capital crime here was the lack of emoticons knowing that old boy, he was just having a friendly laugh - afterall, that muthafucka lost more cams out at beacon than anybody and for a guy's who done the corner a gazillion times, he could probably place a good bit less gear too

9/11 - day #34 - somber day as always this time of year, though interesting - the first crop of seniors i've had none of whom could remember the happenings of but 12 years ago - mismangled comms w/ the powderhound, him sitting out at the parking lot, soaking up the intense sols, me hanging round camas waiting for the call meet old boy at the base and a solo lap we had, 11/31 so far with summer surging and a successful completion all but assured roped round on free4all soon thereafter - the biggest surprise on the rap - goddamn 8.9 mm rope, w/ 260 lbs of bubble-gum attached to it on an overhanging rappel, results in massive laser-burns through the palm unless you add some biners or wear gloves woven w/ space-shuttle-tile style wonder-fabric

i'd need more than a 2-day weekend to make it work for me - if you're pretty confident, it's not an insane solo - nice to have a fellow meat-popsicle for the route finding and to share the mega-epic setting though
