  1. Wow, I expected much better and more photos for the climbing and bouldering categories. Kind of disappointing. The scenic category rocks. Too bad we couldn't choose two. Secnic Pic#3 should have been in "Climbing" I think. edit: I didn't mean to insult the work of Jon and the photo selection committee, though apparently I did. Here is a copy of a relevant PM exchange I just had: I haven't looked at what photos you had to choose from, so I can't comment on the selection, but I'm disappointed in the quality of photos in those categories. I assume this not due to your selection, but to the overall sub-par quality of photos you probably had to choose from in those categories. CC.comers need to get out and take more and better climbing action shots. The Cascades are a beautiful place; lets show em off! And maybe some of the good photographers on this site could give some pointers so we can get some better action shots in the future? Any recommended "how-to" reading? RC.com has a whole forum dedicated to the subject.
  2. Nice find and way to scoop Dru on a quality thread revival. Now why were you up at 4AM?
  3. I don't see you making much money. No NO no... I didn't mean to insult the Bham Avalanche by the way. I just meant, for $20, how are you going to make a profit on all-you-can-eat beer and pizza? If I lived in Bellingham, I'd come!
  4. Howdy, I PMed and emailed you earlier. I'll buy it. -alpinfox AT yahoo Dot com

  15. First of all, their price is showing up as $518.95, not 416.95. But more importantly, they offer a 110% pricematching policy and MOOSEJAW is selling the Nuptses for $360.50 (although they only have one size available). That would make the boots $344. If you are interested in these boots, you could probably use that pricematch policy to find a good deal. Zappos has the Trango extremes for $364, Sierra Trading Post has them for $215. With pricematch, you should be able to get them from Zappos for $200 with free shipping.
  16. scary ignant answer. well it would probably work better than a ski pole with the basket removed which is what I always used when I lived in Alaska. Why don't you share your great bucketloads of wisdom with us Llama? You do a lot of probing for crevasses there in the Sierra smartass?
  17. Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) Outlet Store www.ems.com --> then click on "Outlet" on left side of page Primaloft hooded belay jacket normally $170, now $60 (Sz Men's Small only) Primaloft jacket normally $100, now $35 Wool Sweaters normally $80, now $24 and... Ozone 3meter Ski Kite, normally $392, now $130! Looking for a new winter hobby?
  18. The flex wouldn't be a big deal, but yeah, the tent pole would get stuck and pull apart at the joints when you tried to pull it out. Maybe you could duct tape the joints together? Might work in soft snow for crevasse probing or something. Probably not in avalanche debris.
  19. Your first two sentences are contradictory. implies that RuMR isn't a consumer safety advocate. implies RuMR IS a consumer safety advocate.
  20. Are you kidding? New England has about 20X as much ice as Portland. No contest.
