  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLYMPIA CLIMBER!
  2. Holy shite!!! When did Alpinfox start working there???? HAHAHAH! I've got a steaming crapaccinio for you buddy.
  3. Nice TR! What/where is La Esquela? Looks awesome. If you could resize your pictures a tad, that would be appreciated because I have to scroll to see the whole thing.
  4. There aren't any sarcasm brackets around the quotation of your post that appeared on the OregonLive website, so I guess they didn't get your sarcasm either. http://blog.oregonlive.com/breakingnews/2007/05/popular_online_climbing_forum.html Now folks can say, "even climbers want more regulation of climbers on Hood". edit: edited to remove my mean comment since frikadeller is trying to get his comment removed/amended from the OL website.
  5. Almost everyday 5.5miles each way and it's pissin' me off. Anybody know how to fix mopeds?
  6. And this is how the US delivered the news: "HAHAHA FUCK YOU we are going to build a missile defense system and there is nothing you can do about it! HAHAHA!"
  7. FALWELL DIED DUE TO PERFORATED COLON WITH TINKYWINKY DOLL UP HIS ASS!
  8. His efforts have set back basic human rights in this country. That is a real, concrete effect, not mere politicing in a vacuum. If he had preached love and tolerance for all, I might shed a tear at his passing, but this guy represents everything unchristian and evil about American evangelical "christianity".
  9. Do you hate me? If so, yeah, I guess you should celebrate. I'm curious though, if you hate me, do you hate me because I hate this hater (falwell)? It's not like I celebrate every time a christian dies; just the hypocritical, evangelical, bigoted, powerful ones who have made it their mission in life to oppress others. edit: OK, I see your edit above now. So you don't hate me, but you consider me a hypocrite. I don't think I am. I'm a libertarian. I think people should be allowed to do whatever the fuck they want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. If anyone tries to restrict my freedoms just becuase they don't like what I'm doing, and especially if they are a powerful person and actually have some influence to effect my life, they are my enemy and I hate them. I never said I was an "all-loving or all-tolerant liberal". I'm an asshole, but not a hypocrite.
  10. Looks like we are both right.
  11. And to answer your question, I hate those who use their power to oppress and deceive others. Falwell is certainly not the worst villan out there, but a villan nonetheless.
  12. It should be whom do you hate.
  13. ...and teletubbies. I fuckin' hate people who hate on teletubbies. BURN MF BURN
  14. wrap a piece of tape around the rope. Cut in middle of tape. Tape keeps ends from unravelling. melt rope end with flame (candle recommended, lighter gets hot) to bind sheath and core together. remove tape.
  15. If you don't mind climbing a big sandpile (two steps forward, one slide back) and getting a sunburn you'll love it.
  16. DING DING DING! Finally somebody guessed it!
  17. Uh OH! The "stripper is out of the basement cage now" as they say! In the parlance of our times...
  18. It's going to be a happy day. GUESS!
  19. THE SPIRIT OF FALWELL HAS TAKEN RESIDENCE IN YOUR COMPUTER!!! IT'S A MIRACLE! Is he saying anything yet? Are you speakers turned on?
  20. You are welcome. I like you. Do you have sister? I now refer you to webpage of advices for your glacionieering rope: I HOPE YOU LIKE!?
  21. Keep in mind the Rando is a short rope. It isn't going to leave you much to build a z-pulley haul system with if you or your partner fall into a crevasse. That should definitely be a consideration if you climb Rainier. Hey IV, since you are posting here today and likely to see this, I thought I'd echo what Toast said above. I think a 50m or 60m rope is a better choice for crevassed terrain than a 30m "glacier" rope. If you have three people tied into your rope, 15m apart, you don't have any leftover to be able to drop a loop to someone in a crevasse or build a z-pulley to haul them out. That means you are relying on them climbing out on their own or relying on another team for help. The later will probably work on well-travelled routes like SS hood or DC/Emmons on Rainier, but its not an ideal way to travel in the mountains. Your team should be prepared to self rescue, and that's pretty difficult with a 30m rope. My $0.02
  22. all-leather hiking boots would be fine for the south side of hood. If you do a harder route that requires some front-pointing, you might want a stiffer boot. I like your avatar image.
  23. Doxey is one of my heros. Best attitude on this whole website.
