  1. Heading down to Arizona at the end of this month. I want to try and squeeze in a summit while I am there. Has anyone climbed Humphrey's Peak in the winter. Looking for any advice or information including any spots for a post climb pint or two. Thanks!
  2. Myself along with 2 other climbers are planning on climbing Hood this Saturday/Sunday. We are debating between the Wy'East and Leuthold Routes. We were originally thinking about Wy'East, but with the mass amounts of snow and avy conditions we are thinking possibly Leuthold. Thoughts-Suggestions-Recommendations????? If we do go Leuthold what is your advice on gear?
  3. Awesome pics billclimbs. Were many climbers taking the west face route off of the hogsback?
  4. Appreciate the info, looks like a good time. How long ago was that photo taken?
  5. How does the hogsback look this year, after last years migration to the west. Is it once again leading climbers right up to the Pearly Gates?
  6. Thanks warrior, appreciate the info. Might have to drive over and give it a shot.
  7. What is the south sister looking like?
  8. Got the rope figured out.... What's up with it, Vanilla face? Me and my homie Alpinfox just parked our slab outside. We're looking for somewhere to post up our Black asses for the night. So, uh, bang bang, skeet skeet, nigga. Just a couple of pimps, no hos.
  9. Thanks alpinfox. Your avatar is VERY NICE.. I was leaning towards using them. We are doing the South Side of Hood (most likely the old chute). I thought this setup would be OK, but with the conditions this year I was not sure. Thanks again. Wish you GREAT SUCCESS...
  10. I just bought a pair of Grivel Air Tech Light Crampons. If I use plastic boots I will need to purchase the long flex bar so the crampons will fix the boots (I wear size 11.5). However I can fit my Danner Hiking boots into the crampons. Would advise or disuade me from use the Danners/crampon setup for a Hood Climb?
  11. Just climbed Adams - South Spur Route. We camped in a moraine at lower lunch counter. We were terrorized by mice all night. In the middle of the night one of our group members woke up and swore that there was a fox in our camp area (looking for stuart little snacks). Has anyone else seen fox around lunch counter before? I am trying to decide if I should believe his story or not.
  12. Yes I have checked the board for your advice and replies, my apologies for the belated thank you. After talking with some friends and reading the CC board. I bought the Beal Rando rope. I am only planning on using the rope for climbing mts such as Hood. What would be your opinion on using that rope for a Rainier climb?? Keep on climbing, thanks again
  13. I am getting contradictory advice on selecting a rope to be used for cascade mountaineering. What thickness and length of rope do you recomend? 10.5 x 60 or perhaps an 8mm x 30. If I did go with say the Beal Rando 8 x 30 would I need 2 ropes for a twin rope setup. Thanks for your expert advice...
