  2. We didn't get on the mountain at all. Conditions were not very inviting (see second pic). We just toproped the seracs, but it registered fairly high on the "SCHWEET" scale. Fern even said something like, "I thought seracing was only for bumbly-gumbies like Alpinfox, but it's actually kind of fun!" High praise from the normally-reserved "queen of the alpine".

    Weekend

Sweet! Did you do Lovin' Arms? Toxic is great too, I love the upper hand crack! Busted my ass the first time I led that one, but now I just LOVE it.
  4. Inspired by some brave folks recent "walk in the freezer", Fern and I went down to Oregon to try and climb the North Face of Mt. Hood. We got down there on Thursday afternoon and hiked in towards the base of the mountain. The North Face looked SWEEET! However, as we climbed higher, the wind picked up (eventually reaching 40mph or so) and the mountain disappeared: We tucked tail and headed back to the car. The next day, we got up and headed up towards the Elliot Glacier for some seracing. Nice blue ice up there with a few spots about 20ft/6m (Fern taught me the metric system) tall and some spots had overhanging bulges: It was fun: Then we went to Smiffy and pulled down on some sick projects yo! The End. p.s. FERN !!!
  5. Oh yes. I didn't climb witcha doh. Hi Muffy
  6. I was (am) this clown, though I had a bit less frozen snot in my beard this weekend:
  7. Smiff was damn nice yesterday. Saturday was cold and wet though. Lots of cool cats sendin' the sick projs yo! To: Fern (FERN ), MisterE, Necro, Ehmmic, Lurker Jeff, AlpineK, and Texplorer: To all you other cc.comers that were there that I didn't meet:
  8. They probably want to sell you a penis enlargement device.

    blocking pm's

It would also be nice to be able to add attachments to PMs... I want to share my porn collection with Trask.
  10. Recently finished "Salt: A World History" Mark Kurlansky half of a Just finished "Desert Solitaire" Edward Abbey ...if you like that one, you should read "The Island Within" Richard Nelson Starting today: "The Wild Muir: 22 of J.M.'s greatest adventures"
  11. Yup. Friend of mine does their lights/sound. They
  12. Hooray for King Jon! This is what happens when you hold the camera over your head instead of looking through the viewfinder. Oh well. Good turn-out, lots of plabby, happy folks.
  13. Trask is hiding it here Edit: Oh, I nearly forgot this:
  14. Mine says Garuda by Dana Designs.
  15. I've got a Garuda Kusala (or maybe Kasala?) tent that I have literally only used a couple of times. That's 2 (two) times, one of which was in my backyard. It's a two person, single wall tent. Weighs sub 5# I think. Very strong, but a bit tricky to put up (most singlewalls are). I'll take $200.
  16. Almost. The IMA is on the EAST side of Montlake, just NORTH of the football stadium.
  17. Mmmm.... Cheese..... Thanks everybody!
  18. That is the most disgusting hot spring I have ever seen. The color and consistency of diarrhea, terrible smell, and last time I was there a small dead frog was bobbing around in the "water". Good riddance.
  19. Where is that pic of Fred in the phone booth that someone posted a while ago?
  20. I like my snowcaves PIMP STYLE!!
  21. How does adding a thin piece of nylon UNDER the tent make it a four-season tent? It still has mesh walls which allow spindrift to come in, and heat to go out, and "adjusting the length of the rainfly" doesn't cure this problem. I also don't think this tent is "great to cook in" since the vestibules aren't that big. I don't think any tent is "great to cook in", but those heavy/expensive mountaineering tents have much larger vestibules. If you have a hanging stove everything is groovy though. SO... I disagree with skyclimb's assesment of some of the strengths/weaknesses of the tent, but we both agree it's a winner. Mudslinger, glad to hear that the tent handles high wind well. I haven't been in mine in anything over about 35mph yet.
