Uh huh. Where is that emoticon with the indian throwing a tomohawk? You're a whitey and I'm a whitey. And if you go talk to them, they'll point out the apples. Red on the outside, white in the middle. A little racial pride isn't such a bad thing after a hundred years of repression.

Everyone born here is a Native American. LOL!!!! Go spend time on the Blackfeet reservation whitey. Or RockyBoy. Let em know that you're a Native American. Post a TR.

FYI, I pulled out of two jobs due to "events beyond my control". As it turned out, I could have weathered both storms and been a hero. But at what price to one's sanity/quality of life, is the operational question.

Yeah, northern montana is mostly low metamorphosed sedimentary rock. Not a lot of high quality rock climbing to be had.

I used to get out in the mountains just to fish. I would take a plastic tarp, sleeping bag, warm coat, rubber rain coat, frying pan, coffee can, matches, large knife, fishing pole, and potatoes, salt and margerine for frying the fish. Cheap fun. But now I would do the Coos Coos recipe above and add pine nuts.

Bake three potatoes for each day. Bring salt.

Good TR! Thanks for the pics. -
The legal rights of motorists were lost in teh Reagan years during the war on drugs. Before that police needed probable cause to search a vehicle. Now we are not even pretending it is for teh war on drugs. It is, as the good sherrif pointed out, catching all kinds of criminals. All well and good until you get pulled over and they find a six week old empty beer can on teh floor of your back seat right after you stopped kissing their ass. Spiral out of control from there. Its not that I am afraid the gov is out to get me. I just don't trust every Tom Dick and Harry with a badge in Podunk nowhere to act rationally and we just gave them teh power to pull us over and hold us indefinately while they ransack our car for whatever reason they decide to write down. I'm not paranoid. I've seen people beaten by small town cops and Elko Nevada was famous amoung hitch-hikers for getting arrested for littering and doing six weeks of hard labor in teh local gravel factory. No shit. The worl ain't perfect and we are giving a lot of imperfect people too much power.

"You won't see a Border Patrol agent telling doctors or lawyers how to do their jobs," he said. Uh, Yeah. That's logical. Until we open the concentration camps. "But you will see people trying to tell us how to do our job, even though we're trained to do it." Apparently their job does not include upholding the constitution. Vee pridt ourselvs on our precision training. Vee can spot an enemy of the state und nuetralize zem from ten meters.

I disagree in part with Kennedy's tactics. I beleive we need a safety net but we also need a culture of work. To give millions of people food stamps and rent in exchange for nothing is worse than a taxpayer rip-off, it teaches their children that they do not need to work either. Kennedy is the figurehead for hard left adherance to the welfare program and will be glad to see him depart from the political scene so that PERHAPS more moderate people can lead a change in the structure of welfare and thereby set up a more trustworthy program for health care. YOU CAN'T GET SOMETHING FOR NOTHING. Everyone should work unless they are clearly incapacitated. There should be levels of support, both in welfare and health, depending on how much a person (adult) contributes. I'm not talking about withholding health care to emergency or traumatic needs. But there should be levels of support in terms of 1 on 1 care, number of people per room, etc. We need to reinstil a work ethic across the board. If you get assistance, you work for it. If you don't work, you barely get by and your kids can go to group kitchens to get fed. Harsh? Definately. But not as harsh imo as TEACHING generations to not work and to not have any self respect. Talk about riots. I know. The transition is the most problematic.

Sounds like what the Mexico has been doing in the Southwestern United States for years! Increasing Hispanic population, teaching Spanish in schools, and now there are more ethnic Hispanics in So Cal than non-Hispanic whites. Sounds like what republican Californians have been doing in Washington for years! Increasing republican population, teaching republican ideals in schools, and now there are more republicans in the burbs than democrats.

How did you get all those self portraits? That's just special. Nice pics! Thanks.

If you are doing the Colchuck glacier, you will probably encounter hard, low angle ice. I would take one ice ax and crampons for that. Otherwise, do a different route or skip Colchuck altogether.

Can I get that marmot's number?

Sounds nice. Except for the cigars. I can't handle tabacco anymore. Thanks for the TR. -
Like it or not. As a US citizen participating in "the system" you have agreed, albeit tacitly, to accept teh outcome of the election as the choice of "The People". YOU are one of the people. We are all responsible for George's actions. So get out and do something already. Posting lamely on a climbers board really doesn't count.

I have been involved with many nurses and married to two. It is standard procedure for insurance companies to deniy valid claims. They know that many people will never try to go beyond that initial rejection.
-
Buckaroo, Have you been up K2 or something like it? I mean no disrespect. I have not. Just trying to put your assessment in perspective.

I vent in your general direction.

You break it, you fix it....call it a moral obligation I would agree if there were any hope of fixing it like we did in Japan. Unlike Japan, there are factions within Iraq that would destroy everything we build. There is also a great deal of support from neighboring countries for these destructive factions. Their goal is to keep us from building another Israel/western enclave in the middle east. With htis in mind, what are really accomplishing? I submit, we are staving off the inevitible sweep of Isamic fundamentalism in Iraq. This is the single biggest reason I have been apposed to the war in Iraq from the start. We have kicked a mean sleeping dog without even checking to see how big it is. By invading Iraq, we give Islamic fundamentalists a focus. We were already struggling to maintain credibility with moderate Islamic nations and peoples due primarily to our hard line support for Israel. Israel took Palistine from the Arabs after how many hundreds of years. Now Arabs have every reason to fear that we (the west) want more. And frankly, I think that is exactly what this invasion was about. If we really want to contribute to rebuilding Iraq, we should pull out and offer billions in aid through specific avenues such as heavy equipment, materials, and technology. Until we do that, we are just another wave of Christian invaders. So shut up and climb already.

What I don't understand about your support for McCain is his willingness to spend billions on rebuilding the infrastructure of Iraq at the expense of our own infrastucture here at home. We have levees failing, bridges collapsing, and congested highways compounded by poor public transportation. How do you justify rebuilding Iraq and not putting more federal money into basic maintenence of our own infrastructure? We are not rescuing anyone. Like McCain said, "we may be in Iraq for a hunderd years". What you see over there right now is what you get. Do you think it is ever going to be any different than the struggle between Israel and Palistine? Why?
