  1. i don't see why that should count against me, i mean allison and the ballard contingent are always swaying the ballot in favor of frelard. Forrest, you hit it right on the head. The Ballard contingent is always pushing for Ballard, because such a high % of the PC regulars live here. Plus were are permanently pissed off that it is so hard to get to the freeway from here.
  2. And the Yakisoba at Pine Marten, but ya know, Bachelor blows goats, so you all best stay away.
  3. The Spar is so not in Ruston.
  4. Don't have the skills yet.
  5. It is 38 and raining at the base of Alpental as of two minutes ago.
  6. I predict that old age and wily persistence will prevail over youth and vigor.

  8. FUN HUMBLING FUN HUMBLING FUN HUMBLING FUN HUMBLING Hee hee, not as much as an ego-fest as last weekend, but way fun. My eleven year old friend had a great time too, her first big pow day ever. You might have seen us at Crystal yesteday, we were the two babes that kept yelling FRESHIEZZZZZZ!!!!
  9. Greetings Freshenhunds! Assuming conditions stay good, I am planning on skiing Alpental Tuesday and Wednesday, and staying overnight at the Pass. I don't have any pardners to ski with yet, and would love to have some company. I only have alpine gear, and don't have BC snow safety skills yet (though I am working on it! stay tuned!) but am a pretty solid skier. Anyone interested in hooking up, shoot me a PM by Monday night and I'll give you more details. If the Pass is sucky but Crystal is good, I might go one of those two days, but I don't have a seasons pass or lodging deal there, so am shooting for Alpental.

    Women

Gurls rule. Wanna come skiing, zero?
  11. This is a great idea. I get so tired of hearing people bitch about fees and permits. There are things that should be better about both, but the whine gets really, really old. Flame suit on.

    Wanking

Sorry, Tom, and sorry to Tim and Becky too...I was tired and didn't feel like facing the world last night. Catch you all next time I am sure!
  13. Look in the main lodge on Saturday. I'm bringing my 11yo friend along, and we will be looking for the E-Dog apres ski in the main lodge. I have an obnoxious orange neck gaiter that tends to stand out in the crowd.
  14. MM- Be sure to tell all of your friends how crappy the skiing was up here, We wouldn't want them driving all of that way just to ski in our crappy snow.
  15. Depends on what you want. I agree with the boys, for sure, about the diversity of the terrain at Crystal. I've skiied a lot at Bachy too though, and the snow is consistently way better down there. MUCH drier. All other things being equal though, and assuming it is cold enough here, Crystal rules. Unless of course you are a raging intermediate skier, and then Bachelor rules! PS. There is not a lot of lodging at Crystal, though the place to stay would be the Alpine Inn, both for cost and charm. If you can't get a room at Crystal, the (semi-former) logging town of Enumclaw is about an hour away, and is the next-closest place. You will probably be able to find somewhere cheap to stay there.
  16. Maybe we ought to run Kurt through the Spanking Machine for being so cranky!
  17. We decided this one last night. Trips like that are called fun
  18. That *is* funny Iain, a law that prohibits being a dumbass!
  19. LMAO, DFA! Don't forge the part about how hikers always get their proper permits, and climbers are too good for that!
  20. I think a few hikers would disagree with that notion!
  21. Fern, I'm not sure yet. Probably once I get some legit snow skills under my belt, I will get an AT setup for moderate BC stuff and out of bounds lift-serviced stuff, but I don't want to have to significantly change the way I ski. One of the things I need to watch out for is getting into anything too floppy or noodly in terms of boots or skis, as even regular alpine skiing really hurts my bum ankle. I'm just getting a little bored at the ski hill, if you know what I am saying.
  22. Women's skis have traditionally been softer and lighter than men's skis. The vast majority of women are smaller and lighter than men, and ski less aggressively. Boots have been similarly softer flexing, but also are cut to the female foot, making fit issues less of a problem. In the case of skis, but what you like, but for boots, if there is a women's boot that is stiff enough for you, get that. Since reaching full size, I have been cursed with having to ski on men's gear, and the boots never fit right. I've had retailers try to tell me that women's boots are just the same as mens in terms of performance, but it simply isn't the case. Now I am coming at this from the perspective of an alpine skier, so if there are big differences in the world of tele, please feel free to correct me.
  23. I'm not necessarily asking for myself, FWIW, but am curious as to where most climbers draw the line. Thinker and I disucussed this in front of Newstips last night and I thought her head was going to start spinning.
  24. Discuss. Be specific, and use examples if necessary.
  25. And what would you know about it my dear...? Sorry to be confusing, that was me posting as Muffy during the Great Identity Swap Hoax of March 2003.
