Vantage is a choss pile. Climbing at Vantage bears the same relation to climbing at anywhere good as bestiality does to sex.

Rock is formed at high pressure underground. What happens when that pressure is released when erosion brings that rock to the surface? Some rocks are formed at high temperatures as a liquid magma. what happens when that magma cools? Remember for rocks volume (liquid) > volume (solid).

You can tell when your teenagers get to a certain age, first they read William Burroughs, then the nutmeg jar goes missing from the cabinet, then there are brown smeared tissues and sneezing everywhere.

It doesn't have to be. A lot of the time if I take a 95L pack out rather than a 60L it's because I have high-bulk, low-density items. In the case of the week-long trip mentioned above I knew it was just going to be hiking with no climbing so I took sausage, polenta, lots of fresh veggies and stuff, all of which add lots of volume. Easily 40L of my 95L pack was just my food bag.

Looks like it ended a couple hours ago, before it got dark here. http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/rt_plots/kp_3d.html

I wore an old Bora 95 for a week long trip last summer. Despite the fact that I hadn't used it for about 6 years it wasn't an enormous suckfest. I don't think there is really any difference between a 75L and a 95L in terms of how comfortable they are. Basically I have a 60L pack and a 95L and if I have a bit too much stuff to carry in the 60 I default to the 95. The best thing of all is that I got that old Bora 95 used 12 years ago for $25 bucks. If I was going to buy a new large pack today I wouldn't buy a 95L that's for sure. I'd buy a 75L or 80L and pack to fit it.

the issue is not camping close to a river, the issue is negligence leading to the deaths of children. you know like leaving poison out and having children drink it, or leaving a loaded gun lying around and having a child shoot themself or someone else. rivers kill people. http://www.cdc.gov/HomeandRecreationalSafety/Water-Safety/waterinjuries-factsheet.html so do swimming pools and oceans

+1 Exactly what I was thinking. I get the third degree from US border guards.....but sweet as apple pie when coming home. Going to the US the border guards always ask me about drugs and/or if I am going to the US to work; coming home the Canadian border guards always ask me about outlet stores.

Ted is smarter than most cats I've met. He's MENSA-level in his trickery. I like Dane's idea That's Will Gadd's dad's idea.

The MEC T3 is quite similar to the Pata R1, which I find is too warm and consequently too sweaty for most stuff locally until it's about -25C out. I see MEC is now making a T2 hoody as well. Thinner and thus might be better. They have a thin merino hoody as well. Haven't worn it though. I've had the MEC Thermal Hoody for about 4 years. Thinner, less warm and less sweaty than the T3, but very stretchy (high Lycra content) and has thumb holes. I like it a lot. Cut long enough to fit under a harness, which I think is a problem with the T3. They tweaked it this year. The new model is called the Thermal Vertex Hoodie and it's really hard to find on the website except with a keyword search http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/MensClothing/OutdoorAthletic/TShirtsSleeveless/PRD~5022-978/mec-thermal-vertex-hoodie-mens.jsp
