Dude-Wopper! There are a couple of new guide books to trail running in Washington. Here they be: Mike McQuaide, "Trail Running Guide to Western Washington", Sasquatch Books, Seattle.[2001] ["over 50 great trail runs." There are indices that rate the runs by difficulty, fun factor and aesthetic appeal. Cheri Gillis, "50 Trail Runs in Washington." Mountaineers Books. [2002] Runs vary from a handful of miles to over thirty. At this point, I prefer the Mike McQuaide book because I did a run in that new Mountaineers book and got lost following such dubious instructions as "at the Tie Mill (no longer apparent), a new trail drops down" and "new trail drops down ...(may not be marked but if you look right, you'll see it)". Somewhere in a several mile stretch! A favorite training hill: Mt. Pete (also called by the locals, "Mt. Peak") in Enumclaw. It's like a miniature Mt. Si but only one third as high. A steep trail up the north side and then roads on the back and a six mile loop around the base. - Dwayner

Hell-o! McFly! Anybody Home? Any of you guys ever consider the easy and obvious solution? Have BIG LOU intervene in the situation. Within a matter of moments, you'll be hearing a lot of guberment-issue "yes, sir"'s and "sorry, sir"'s and moments later you'll be whisked to the base of your climb in the back of HIS LOU-NESS'S giant-sized 1970's-era JanSport monster frame pack. Yup, that's what I'd do. - Dwayner...just crackin' open the first Mickey's of the day. [ 06-14-2002, 11:18 AM: Message edited by: Dwayner ]

I'm in Norway, and I'm drunk. - DDDDwwaayner P.S. Somebody gonna make a million being the first to import Mickey's here. I'd do it myself but I'm too busy drinking other stuff at the moment.

Three days later....and I'm still drunk! Barkeep! Another Snakebite, and a plate of Lawn Sausage, please. - Dwayner...crankin' the gritstone for Her Majesty.

"The Ballroom sounds good to me, where exactly is it? Parking in fremont sucks so ride your bike or parking can be found up the hill on Fremont Avel Pay parkiing is avalable at the new buildings by the Ship Cannal." It's in Tacoma. You should remember it from last week.
-
Make sure you all show up like you did in Tacoma this week. And pick a place within biking distance of your house.

Hold your water, birthday boy, I'll get around to it after I've finished some work here in a couple of hours. In the meantime, have another one of these:

Hey Alpine K! You still being paid residuals from that Ferris Buehler movie? You should be buying us birthday presents! Happy Birthday, alpine wildman! Have a cold one: from Dwayner P.S. A friend of mine went to a wedding and the famous mountaineer Ferris Buehler was there. He got to walk by him and Buehler didn't even sneer. Wait a minute, that was somebody's else's brush with fame. I have met Big Lou, however.

Eric, where are you, man? Matt P.? Time to pick a venue. Don't let me do this alone, man! I can see by the overwhelming interest in this topic that the turn-out is going to be HUGE! For those of you dudes with doubts, let's just say that this week's pube club is going to be a veritable Babe-O-Rama. And for gals, the alpine equivalent of Fabio will be in attendance. Fred Beckey...you coming? If I don't hear from the others in Tacoma in 1/2 hour, I will be forced to choose the most excellent venue myself. This will be posted at 1:00 PM. Mighty King Dwayner

Son of Caveman...see you there...and bring your cool-cat dad; someone will give him a ride...maybe MattP himself?
-
Dwayner ain't interested either, but this ain't all about me...it's about Tacoma, the City of Destiny. By the way, the unsubstantiated rumor is the Amber is 19 and is already working on her Master's in theoretical physics. Really!
-
Hey all you Amber-lovin' folks! There's a chance that the lovely AMBER HERSELF will be making an appearance in Tacoma at the pub club tonight. Impress her with your tales of gnarly routes and heinous dyno's for the micro-nubbins!
-
There's an unsubstantiated rumor flying around that MISS AMBER will be showing up at Pube Club tonight! You've seen the picture...gym-honed and alpine-hard, with arms crossed in that "hey, I'm really quite interested in you" pose. Uh,huh! I don't want to have to entertain her by myself! Mighty King Dwayner
-
Only YOU can prevent tonight's Pube Club in Tacoma from turning into a sausage-swingin' dude ranch. "v"...you gonna be there? Icegirl? Allison? sk? all those other ones who are likewise adorable? Hikerwa, specialed:..gonna bring your HOT girlfriends again? FRED BECKEY! Show up...we need you, buddy! You're a magnet for Babe-itude and alpine excellence! - Mighty King Dwayner
-
Allison: a) Dwayner doesn't host anything anymore, I'm only facilitating it because Eric doesn't seem to want to. b) Pube Club was held there last time or the time before that. c) People liked it there. It was good. d) What's your point? - Mighty King Dwayner
