Totally depends on the climb. I don't think you can generalize the ratings b/w valley, index, and squamish. There's sandbags at all 3 places and light ratings at all 3 places. Of course, there's only 3 grades at index: 10a, 11a, and fuckin hard.

I've heard from a reliable source that it is just as warm to get your custom liners fitted with and wear one pair of liner socks as it is to get them fitted and wear multiple layers. I've never tested this theory in temperatures as cold as one would encounter on Denali, but in ten degrees or so thermoflex liners with just liner socks is warm as hell.

No way, I really liked that one pic of the flow chart demonstrating the use of logo and sales to drive corporate earnings. The violet hues of the third box really offset the pie chart nicely. It really embraces the design concept of "the rule of thirds." Maybe someday if I keep practicing I can create an image as moving as that one.

I've never climbed in super cold weather with leathers but from what I've heard and read, modern insulated leather boots and hybrids like the Scarpa Alpha are warm as hell. However, most of those dudes who have spent mad time in Alaska like Twight, House, et al. still swear by plastics and I would to. Its just a lot harder to fuck yourself with plastics and its nice to have a liner you can wear at the bivy and in your bag. The deal is to get some custom Raichle Thermoflex liners (not the ones for ski boots, but the ones specifically designed for plastic mountaineering boots) they run about $150 and are half the weight and about twice as warm as standard liners.

Slider Nuts belong in everyone's clean aid bag of tricks. They I've got tons of antique hexes, nuts, tube chocks, and other goofy ass shit lying around. I don't use it, its just good for a laugh every now and then. My oldest piece of gear I still use is my flourescant speckled Boucher chalk bag.

I hear Pope and Dwayner are going to grow mulletts this summer so they can do FMA's - First Mullett Ascents. Although I'm sure a lot of routes saw MFA's in the 80's.
