soloing rainier in august: hardcore or stupid???
thelawgoddess replied to kdk1610's topic in Mount Rainier NP
probably more than you think. for the legal attempts i'm guessing the nps might have some estimates. ??? anyone who's already set this goal should really already know what these might be ... and be prepared to face and deal with and/or walk away from them. (btw, reading the solo permit application might be helpful in providing some food for thought.) that's an incredibly subjective question, and (like others said) it really depends. there are so many factors that come into question when making this type of decision, and if you haven't tried to think of and through every one of them before coming to terms with it (and it's possible consequences), i would venture to say that isn't so wise. but there's plenty of time between now and then to gather information, assess yourself, and make your best decision. -
not really ... unless you count a 1-foot drop at the south surrey bike park. i just bought the bike and there isn't a whole lot of mtb'ing in my past due to my previous unfortunate lack of funds to afford a capable machine that fit me ... so it'll be a little while before i can handle my new big bike. it's going to be a fun summer, though!

offwhite ... ever one of the few voices of reason. i've met tons of great people on this site, a few of whom may have flipped me more than my fair share of shit here and there ( - you know who you are!) but that's just how life goes sometimes. this board really is just one huge dysfunctional family - siblings will be siblings as it were, and so on ... and just like becoming the stepchild of a "real" family, it sometimes takes time and effort to figure out how you fit into the big picture. meeting these folks in person can really make a difference.

nice work, boys! -
i LOVE my kong heliums for alpine and my dmm prowires for "more sporty" stuff. d'ovals if you want something more round-like. neutrino's come in cool colors but are a bit small for my taste.

yeah, they've definitely gone ... downhill. but at least they have nice cameras. it wasn't any worse than at least one other ski movie i've seen this season. actually, it wasn't worse than that one ... and i'll leave it unnamed. i wishe they'd bring the others around again now that it's snowing ...

ditto with above. a good boot-fitting shop cares about their customers ... and will guarantee their boots to fit and will fix them or replace them if they end up not working out ...
-
btw, if you have an "extra" pair of downhill skis, consider mounting those with your "new" AT bindings to save some cash for now. you can upgrade later once you decide what you really want. (or get naxo's or freerides to replace your current downhill binding since those will both take downhill boots and have an adjustable DIN.)

oh god not more AT setup questions
