Heard it on the radio while getting ready for work. Watched the first tower fall on TV-oh shit, at first on the radio it sounded like a cessna had hit it the way it was at first unconfirmed and reported. Was listening to the radio that had a guy live inside the Pentagon, and you could hear the boom and all the commotion in the background. I was on top of one of the towers a week and a half before, so it hit home. Those towers were bigger than they looked on TV. Made the first scheduled flight out of seatac a few days earlier, and talked to some that just got back from the Wonderland trail while in line, and they barely knew what happened. They said the first time they knew anything was wrong was while up in MRNP the planes stopped flying, and there was a silence. Talked to several on the plane that were forced to sleep outside after their plane was forced down in Seattle.

Mtn Goat was taken away awhile back by UN black helocopters, so he may not be able to read this. BTW, it hurts but I agree with the traskmaster

Jeez, take a look at the prices at the gas pump. I saw 2.19/gallon today for premium. Just two weeks ago at another station it was only 1.35 for regular. Whos making all the money? reminds me of the days of Enron. Whats the most expensive anyone has seen out there? These long drives to the back country on weekends are going to get really expensive--the guy working at the station said "there is no end in sight for how high the prices may go".

We were in the area too, and Thunder Creek area looked full of smoke. We also saw a small fire near where we were at about mile 14 above the Cascade river road (south), and the next day (Sunday) it was still smoldering, and all those damn helocopters all day, well for good reason.

I work for a mortgage company ( not a broker) and the talk is that they will be level or going up. The market has already anticipated a drop of a quarter, so they are theoretically factored in. Mortgage brokers that post here are probably too busy to post anything right now. TTT

I couldn't imagine climbing Rainier this weekend. Article

There were two significant streams, both easier in the morning, obviously. The first is passible with care; the second you might get by in the morning, but afternoon, you will get water in your boots. At least if the weather stays anything like this.... I was with a friend Sunday on a one day climb of the CD route and yes the second stream was running quite strong, managed to cross it in the middle of the night without getting wet. There was a crevasse just opening up at 8800' that you could circumnavigate. People were falling in part way , thinking it was just soft snow in that spot. Great conditions on the route. TTT

Yes he was lucky, Iain I saw you over there helping him find the ski, which he finally did in the avi debris further up from where you guys where looking. I was 40 yards from gates when we saw him go over and try to ski down, and fall past us. I dont know if that 70 yo guy skied down, and I talked to him on the way up. Yes that guy that fell was really lucky..... TTT

Sunday was pretty ideal conditions, seemed like way better weather than in WA. We waited out the wind a bit too, and saw a skier take a NASTY tumble down the mountain from pearly gates. Took him a long time to get all his gear, but he was ok. TTT I summited Iains mountain again .
