  1. Count me in. 11 seasons on my Voile. Cheers. Jimbo
  2. Sorry, no days off for a couple weeks. Seriously, learn to ski.
  3. Learn to ski, hippy!
  4. When/if you come down off of your soapbox, please try to remember that the freedom in all aspects of climbing is what draws/grips/captures many of us. I know you know this, but it seems that you are actually advocating regulation in our pursuit. Your in fact stated that you choose not to wear a helmet at times, a decision that I will not begrudge you, but will not make the same choice myself. I certainly do not want to see a "climbing helmet law." If a reasonably affordable/reliable long range locator device became available, a large number of climbers may make the choice to use it. That technology is not available at this point, and the Oregon legislature mandating the use of any device, now or in the future, is not the answer. We can make our own choices, as climbers have been doing for many years. Happy, safe climbing. Jimbo
  5. I posted this pic last year: At the time it wasn't within my weak-ass ice abilities. Thin. Mark Hanna did post a TR last year, and I'm pretty sure that wasn't the first time he'd climbed the headwall. Probably pretty good right now. Go get some! Cheers. Jimbo
  6. FYI. The uphill ban is not limited to Bachy. Just seems they are the only ones making it public. I have no clue about Oregon, but at least one area in WA (on Hwy 2) has already instituted this ban, and more are to follow. Seems like not much impact up north here, but sucks at Bachelor.
  7. Although I got rained out both times I went to climb Roan/Salish, Martha's Place is an awesome bivy. There's two bolted routes on the bivy boulder as well! I'll be back.
  8. WRT where to camp on summit, when we did it we set up tent on some bare part of the crater rim, and it was 80F in the tent all night. If you dug up the dirt a bit steam would shoot up. Pretty comfortable night out. Have fun. Jimbo
  9. Hey jmace, I was on top of a mountain, else I wouldn't be sprayin'. It was cold. First hand observation. Nuthin' but.
  10. I've only skiied up it, but I don't imagine it's drivable very far right now. Earlier snow has been lingering on tree covered FS roads. It's really not a bad ski in there. We did it in February a couple years ago from approx. 1 mile before Sibley Creek rd. turnoff. The turns from the Hidden Lake Peaks are fantastic! Cheers. Jimbo
  11. Ain't no inversion today. Brrrr.
  12. In WA, Stevens is the only one.
  13. G3 Tonic
  14. The main issue with using the splitty is ski mode for downhill travel is the lack of tension on the heel. Tele skiers have the tensioned cable around their heel so they don't go flying over the handlebars. I have skied on them enough to get pretty good/artistic with my forward flip/somersault type maneuvers. It can be fun at times. Cheers. Jimbo
  15. Glad I didn't piss anybody off. All of this talk of wanting a more versatile boot/binding setup is great, but the number one drawback of a splitboard is on the rolling terrain where we cannot easily skate or herringbone up. Willow Creek wasn't too bad, but coming down from Colchuck Lake blows ass on a splitty. I'll still take my board any day. Cheers. Jimbo
  16. Hot damn. Thanks for taking the time to write this up, and posting the picture stokage. Cheers. Jimbo
  17. Not familiar with the site that Kurt referenced, but NWAC has all of the telemetry stations listed: http://www.nwac.us/ Click on NWAC Weather Data on the left side. Usually accurate unless wind & rime are fuckin' shit up. Some of the telemetry sites are listed as ski areas, but that's just because of where the equipment is located. Cheers. Jimbo
  18. Haven't played it yet, but there is some sickter ice climbin' action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ciz9oQDPwH0&feature=related Pick stickin' starts about 1:50.
  19. I'll have to check with my peeps in the know, but I am 99% certain that the helo was indeed crashed on Whitehorse. IIRC, it was the cause of no small amount of controversy.
  20. When you upload them to photobucket resize them. Or make a new copy in photobucket that is a different size. I'm an idiot when it comes to this stuff, but photobucket told me how to do it all.
  21. pretty hard to tell what it is with the size of yer pics.
  22. Yea, another elitist attitude on the slopes. Just what we need. Different strokes for different folds, and some of those folks can rip on a splitty. Just cause you can't, don't make it wrong. Skate away, bro. Cheers. Jimbo
  23. Great for aid, not so much for free.
  24. Sweet. I'll probably attend. Jimbo
  25. That video has to be one of the lamest things I've ever seen. The faceplants are amusing though.
