This is what Democracy Looks Like

I'm trying to find the political agenda for the Occupy Wall Street movement. So far, nothing on the website. I know it's leaderless, but...it might be helpful to have some specific demands that can be acted upon by somebody somewhere...at least at some point.

The Arab Spring, in contrast, had one very specific demand: Leave, MFKR. Hence, it had specific goal that, once achieved, marked the end of the festivities.

"There is no way within American political system to vote against the interests of Goldman Sachs."

As good a starting point as any. The question we need to ask is whether the current political leadership has any legitimacy at all in terms of its capacity to represent the citizenry as a whole.

one might say, as this week's egyptian clusterfuck shows, that having boiled everything down to one goal hardly ensured success in the long-term?

what should OWS' goal be? if the solution to the american problem was a simple one, it seems it woulda happened a long time ago.

Once they get the little guys, they'll be able to move onto the big guys. These bastards had the termidity to stop giving out free food and to actually ask for money. They need to learn, the movement don't need no stinkin' money!

...."Coffee cart owner Linda Jenson and hot dog cart operators Letty and Pete Soto said they initially provided free food and drink to demonstrators, but when they stopped, the protesters became violent. And according to one city councilman, bodily fluids were used in the attacks. “Both carts have had items stolen, have had their covers vandalized with markings and graffiti, as well as one of the carts had urine and blood splattered on it,” said Councilman Carl DeMaio...."

Gotta love how the self-styled Minuteman, the armed defender and the "first line of defense in the protection of our freedoms" in all the weeks of police abuse, thousands of arrests, hundreds of unlawful detentions, constant low-intensity warfare, and daily infringements of the rights to speech, assembly, and due process finally decides to weigh in about a fucking hot-dog cart getting tipped over. You are a clown.

Apparently you haven't spent much time in downtown LA. Desperate times, shit happens.

And how much time have you been spending in downtown LA, Prole? :lmao:

A fair bit, as a matter of fact.

And now this: Adventures Abroad with Billcoe.
