2/19: Cabin Fever (1p) + Wyoming Wave (4p); 200 meters total

2/20: High On Boulder (2p); 165 meters total

2/21: Mean Green; 300 meters total

David rolled p1 and 2 into a 90 meter lead.

Somewhere around pitch 3 we realized why they consider Mean Green "one of the top 10 routes in North America"

Nice classic tour! Never sure how to represent the grade of mean green. Is it a real 4, a sandbagged 4, an easy 5, a real 5, etc. Crux felt pretty tough to me a month ago.

 

Hopefully I'll get back up there before the season melts away.

Sounds like you had a good time. Pictures of Cabin fever bring back good memories of soloing and having huge chuncks hit me in the face and then building a deadman with a tree. thanks for the photo stoke.

We must be on the same wavelength. Was in Cody for 4.5 days a couple weeks before you and did some of the same great climbs. We had blue bird skies and perfect conditions. Here's a link to my pics. Sadly it was the only ice for me this season.

Never sure how to represent the grade of mean green. Is it a real 4, a sandbagged 4, an easy 5, a real 5, etc. Crux felt pretty tough to me a month ago.

 

Hopefully I'll get back up there before the season melts away.

 

My best guess is (i.e. could be totally wrong) is on the FA it was super fat hence the WI4 rating. I think in normal years and/or early season it is closer to what most would consider a Cody 5. To me it felt like 4/4+ but even then I cant be trusted as I hadnt thrown tools in over 2 months

 

Ill be out there in March... you should come up!

Great work by all. I miss Cody! Looks like good conditions overall, especially Cabin Fever. When I climbed it, the top of Cabin Fever collapsed AFTER I climbed it. Pitch 4 of MG looks stout!

Thanks! Mean Green was really hooked out, but it was super fun to just cruise on the first 3 pitches. Kinda nice after having to earn EVERY stick on Cabin Fever.
