ivan Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 so clearly the republicunts are making the majority of their case against the big O based on this lack of executive experience thang - so, to engage in group think, what historical examples can we think of decent executives who came to the job w/ no executive experience? the first one that comes to my mind actually was a pretty good republicunt - abraham lincoln who else? TREETOAD Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 McCain speech Be still my dog of war. I understand your pain. We've all lost someone we love. But we do it my way! We do it my way. Fear is our ally. The gasoline will be ours. Then you shall have your revenge. Quote
rob Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Hmm, let's take the corollary: who are some truly horrible presidents who came to the job WITH executive experience? GWBush? Nixon? Harding? Quote
Mal_Con Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Most all of them were inexperienced at being president except in their 2nd term. Eisenhower was about the only one who had a meaningful military experience, running D-Day was a pretty big deal.Truman ran a hat shop (and was an operatave of a Kansas city boss). Nixon, JFK, Ford were politicians. Carter,Clinton and Reagan were governors. Bush 2 was a drunkard nerdowell son of a political family. Bush 1 CIA director and VP. All the present cantidates are politicians. The argument is a nonstarter. Quote
rob Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 The argument has been how much "executive" experience they have, not their experience as politicians. I've been hearing a lot from the republican party about "executive experience." Remind me, again, how much executive experience McCain has? Quote
AlpineK Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I'd totally agree that Eisenhower was the only president with real military experience that combine the military with managing an incredibly large project that had to be done ASAP. Teddy Roosevelt had military experience too, but not quite as large. When Eisenhower left office he warned everybody about the military industrial complex. Bush has done nothing but add to this complex and increase our debt. McCain wants to continue in that same tradition. Quote
ivan Posted September 5, 2008 Author Posted September 5, 2008 where are the republicunts in this very important thread? Quote
akhalteke Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 where are the republicunts in this very important thread? Working. Quote
ivan Posted September 6, 2008 Author Posted September 6, 2008 interesting - the whole day goes by and none of the right-y's sound off on the issue? Quote
StevenSeagal Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 All I know is Palin did a great job reciting personal insults written by Karl Rove in front of a homer crowd, and she knows how to hunt. That's good enuf fer me! Quote
JoshK Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Well, unfortunately the good republicunts would definitely not be in today's republicunt party. The republican party of today is not the party of Abe Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt. I'd be willing to bet the majority of Republicunts don't even know what basic principals their party is *supposed* to champion. Quote
TREETOAD Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Who let that fucking black guy into the convention anyway?? Quote
StevenSeagal Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Like I said- who cares? She speaks down to our level. And we all want the person who has to make all the tough decisions, to be there for that 3 AM phone call, to be just like us, or worse! Why won't the libturd media quit badgering the McCain camp to let her out of her cage to talk to them? keHhZwIW4uE Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Bristol didn't have much experience, and she got the job done. Quote
