canadug Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 That is a sad excuse for a crack. Looks more like a muddy beach. Quote
chucK Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 What's up with that putty in the crack? Reverse chipping? Quote

TimL Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 I've started to see this kind of thing happen a lot over here in Spain in the area (Cuenca) that we normally climb sport in. The things is that these kind of routes usually spring up in areas that have already been developed for years. People start putting up routes on fragile rock and thus they glue or concrete fragile features onto the rock. I've also seen routes that people have built features onto the rock using concrete. I don't really care for this type of route creation because typically with glued on holds you get blatant drilled out holds. Quote
peas Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 I remember seeing that kind of stuff on Uncle Ben's but I don't remember it being that bad. Quote
tomtom Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 I remember seeing that kind of stuff on Uncle Ben's but I don't remember it being that bad. It's the crack right above the big roof. What the heck is going on? Quote
peas Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Back in the day there was a free attempt on Uncle Ben's so maybe it has something to do with that. Nothing more than conjecture though. Or maybe it was just such a bad rope eating flake while jugging that some earnest aider decided to patch it up. Grasping at straws here. I dunno. Quote
