  1. Bummed as I also thought it would be trundling pix
  2. Very Sad. Condolences to family and friends.
  3. I hope you have a speedy recovery Steph. At least it happened where you would be rescued quickly and receive awesome medical care you likely would not have received in BC. Did you have out of province medical insurance?
  4. Nice day out guys. Might want to invest in a helmet for the gf's cranium especially if she is learning to lead.
  5. I'd check that policy of yours. In fact I would talk with your insurance agent. When I lived in WA state I had comprehensive car insurance and it DID NOT cover the contents of the vehicle. The only thing it covered inside the vehicle was my in-dash stereo. I had a gore-tex jacket and some CD's ripped off and they were not covered by comprehensive. The next week I bought renter's insurance.
  6. Hmmm..very tempting. Saw the flight for 475 direct from SeaTac. Is there much daylight this that time of the year?
  7. Hi Alan, Just picked up a copy of your new Smith Guide on my return from Red Rocks. Thanks for doing a great job on the new guide book. Good luck with everything, Doug
  8. Flying out of 'Ham on the 10th to get out of this friggin' rainy weather. Looking for a partner to do some multi-pitch trad routes. I lead up to the low 10's. Anyone up for some sun?
  9. I am feeling really sad reading this.....My thoughts go out to TJ's family and friends.
  10. I'd go to the emergency ward and get it checked out NOW. 8 hours is a long time to have no feeling....nothing to lose by getting it checked out sooner than later..
  11. Thanks. So there is still some vestige of a trail left to follow?
  12. I have heard the approach trail to South Twin Sister is totally overgrown. Has anyone been up to the South Twin recently? Any info about the trail? Did North Twin Sister a few weeks ago and thought it was possible to drop down the West Ridge and then head over to the South Twin. That way you would be able to get above the cut block and hopefully to easier schlog free terrain.
  13. The forecast is looking kind of bad starting Tuesday: http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/pages/bc-50_metric_e.html But that can change. If you are need a partner Sat to Tues I am usually free a couple of those days.
  14. For the most part Vantage is a shitty cragging area. It is only going to become a bigger shit hole with no shitters. It is good they go there as to not clog up a real climbing crag elsewhere.
  15. One must not forget the Tool who will leave whatever does not fit in the dumpster beside the dumpster. If they drive furniture all the way out there they will leave it rather than take it back home. You see that problem with dumpsters in alleys so just think about the crap left behind by dumpsters out in the middle of nowhere.
  16. Matt, No matter what there still needs to be restroom facilities of some sort. Some solid structure like they have in National Forest campsites would be a great option. The porta-potties just keep getting destroyed. There is still the problem with people throwing garbage, needles and all kinds of crap in the toilets. Once that happens they can not be cleaned and then we are at another impasse. It is just too bad there are so many irresponsible people around these days. I remember the times when there were no fences along the road down to the coulee and you could easily explore everywhere. The fences had to be put up because the land was being trashed just as it is at the climbing area. When people decide to trash an area what can be done really except to limit access.
  17. Sadly enough the problem is just not concert goers it is also some climbers and the ever persistent rednecks. I first climbed at the Coulee in '95 and back then all was sweet as few people climbed out there. I no longer go as it is a gigantic shit pit of broken glass, garbage, shell casings, and human waste everywhere. What needs to be done is to allow only day access and use concrete barricades or fences to block all access to the camping area. That will keep out the riff raff and hopefully reverse the severe environmental damage done to the area. I have spoken with a biologist at DFW a number of times and he says the barricade solution is at the top of their list. There is a state park over near the bridge off of I90 that has a great campsite.
  18. I have been in the Yucatan region for the past 10 days and all is quite sweet. If you listen to the typical US media you would believe all of Mexico is a slaughter house. Most of the drug violence is along the US/Mexico border.
  19. There is a campground at Red Rocks...It is cheap. Less than 30 mins to the Strip.
  20. Just saw that Stevens Pass has close to a foot of snow on the ground with more coming tomorrow......Ski season is oh so close.
  21. I was actually giving a word of advice....If you wish to take it otherwise that is your issue. I have actually done that and other climbs in the area with and without a headlamp. Good luck finding someone.
  22. Are you talking about doing it in a day from the parking lot? If so, good luck. It is a hell of a long hike and the days are getting shorter really fast.
  23. I think a chill pill is in order. If you need me to write you a prescription I'll do it for FREE.
  24. NE Buttress of Higher Cathedral is one of my all time favorites anywhere.....but get an early start as it is long with a fairly long approach and walk off. A MUST DO!
