TrogdortheBurninator Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 Reading about the Eiger, some of the key features (Death Bivouc, White Spider, etc) are so aptly named, that just their mention gets your imagination running and your adrenalin pumping. What are some of the classic named features/spots (not peaks/routes) in the cascades with similar power? Some that come to mind: In the mountains: Traverse of Angels Great Gendarme Lithuanian Lip Girth Pillar itself At the Crags: Split Pillar Ringing Flake Blue Crack .... Quote
ClimbingPanther Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 (edited) "Beckey Route" oops, didn't read your post carefully... is there a Beckey Pillar or Traverse of Beckey anywhere? Edited August 17, 2007 by ClimbingPanther Quote

selkirk Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 Not that many mountains can match the history of the Eiger but... Dragontail Mt. Terror (and 1/2 the stuff in the Pickets) And of course... The Buttlips Chimney Quote
goatboy Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 The Flagpole, "visited by more birds than climbers," is a pretty cool feature. The Bearhug pitch on SEWS SW Buttress.... The Cannon Hole near Dome Peak... The Red Ledge... The BIG SNAGTOOTH!!!! Quote
TrogdortheBurninator Posted August 17, 2007 Author Posted August 17, 2007 Bearhug is a good one. There really dont seem to be too many singular named features. I think subsequent FAists should start naming more features on their routes so we can have a more storied culture. More: The Dolphin Boving Roofs Quote

TrogdortheBurninator Posted August 18, 2007 Author Posted August 18, 2007 The Bone - the feature, not the route (some people seem to have a hard time with the not routes or peaks statement ) Quote
catbirdseat Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Is there not a Beckey Chimney on SEWS? How about Stoner Ledge? Jello Tower Damnation Crack (both a route and a feature) ... and stop mentioning peaks. He asked for Feature Names. A peak is not a feature. Quote
TrogdortheBurninator Posted August 18, 2007 Author Posted August 18, 2007 Where is Bunny Death Bivouac? That sounds awesome. Quote
catbirdseat Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 How about Chumstick Snag or Trigger Finger? Quote
