annyomous_coward Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Hey Cascade Climbers~ This past weekend I ran into a large group of Tacoma Mountaineers and Seattle Mountaineers at Camp Harris/Murkwood camp on the Northside of Mt Baker. There was a large amount of trash left hanging in a tree below were this group was camped. Being a climber and enviromentalist I would like to remind people to make sure this doesn't happen again. I know sometimes people get in a hurry and forget things but the amount of trash left behind was unexpectable in my mind. Thanks.... for listening and just be more aware Quote
tivoli_mike Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 If you have photos, I would send them to the mounties... Quote
G-spotter Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 And post them here too, cause we love Mounties photos Quote
goatboy Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 but the amount of trash left behind was unexpectable in my mind. Â I guess you mean "unacceptable." I would say leaving ANY trash behind is unacceptable. But in the case of a huge, misguided party such as this, not "un-expectable!" Quote
annyomous_coward Posted August 24, 2006 Author Posted August 24, 2006 I didn't have a camera but we did take the trash off the mountain... I'm not here to cause problems.... we all forget things sometimes. I just want people to relize there mistake and not let it happen again. Quote
kix Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I recommend therapy to work on being a bit more confrontational anonymous cowa.... Â oh....nevermind..I see how it is. Quote

Our only connection with that group is really to mock them in a condescending manner. I'm sure your post will provide fodder for this, thanks Quote
Fairweather Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Where is "Camp Harris/Murkwood Camp"? Never heard of it. Did you find any soiled blue Patagonia midweight bottoms tangled up with urine-soaked kaki shorts? Quote

spicoli11 Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Umm...wait....yeah....would you like to rethink that one more time? Quote

chris Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 FW- Murkwood is the local name for "Glacier Viewpoint". I actually think that Anonymous Coward should call up the Mountaineers and inform them of his discovery - I think they'd appreciate the heads up a lot more from a phone call than from cc.com. Pick up the shit and STFU. Why? I think most of us would pick it up and pack it out, but if we ever caught up with the people who left it behind, we'd call them on it. Or do you expect him to "STFU" because he admits to being an "environmentalist", which in your mind equals socialist-democratic-left-leaning-communist-pinko-red? Quote
Fairweather Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Why? I think most of us would pick it up and pack it out, but if we ever caught up with the people who left it behind, we'd call them on it. But he didn't 'catch up' with the guilty slobs. He chose to post his lecture here. I (and, I'm sure, you too) pick up shit on almost every freakin' trip I do - from soiled underwear and half-buried socks to deflated mylar balloons - and I don't post a notice here shaking my index finger at any-and-all. Â Or do you expect him to "STFU" because he admits to being an "environmentalist", which in your mind equals socialist-democratic-left-leaning-communist-pinko-red? Yes. The whole holier-than-thou lecture thing seems to go hand-in-hand with the mindset more often than not. Quote
whidbey Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Fuck off annyomous Coward!... Pack the shit up and shut the fuck up! I pick shit up all the time and don't post how many fuckin ballons I have in my pocket or whatnot. Â I'm glad it freaked you out. I would be pissed also.. but I think I would just pack the shit out and shut the fuck up. Quote
chris Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 We'd like to think that this forum is the place to spread information. I agree that this dude should contact the Mountaineers directly, but to come down on him for assuming that a Mountaineer member might read this - you out there Gary? - and bashing him for admitting to be an environmentalist (if an environmentalist is someone who cares about the environent, is there anyone here who isn't? Tell him to pass it on to the Mountaineers and be done with it. Wow... Quote
olyclimber Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 you're all dumbasses for not immediately mobilizing an armed task force to deal with this problem. you're all whiney little liberal bitches that just want to talk but no action like me. Quote
olyclimber Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I'm here to mock in a condescending manner in this thread. Quote
Fairweather Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 The way he completed his post: "Thanks.... for listening and just be more aware" - seems to direct the lecture at more than just a few 'Mountaineers', don't you think? Quote
olyclimber Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 or maybe he just meant to those that read his post and think it applies to them to pick up their shizzle? especially the mountain ears that read cc.com. Quote
chris Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Nope: "This past weekend I ran into a large group of Tacoma Mountaineers and Seattle Mountaineers at Camp Harris/Murkwood camp on the Northside of Mt Baker. There was a large amount of trash left hanging in a tree below were this group was camped. Being a climber and enviromentalist I would like to remind people to make sure this doesn't happen again." Sounds like his complaint is 100% with the Mountaineers to me. I think you're being touchy... Quote
whidbey Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Fairweather... I don't! I think it's fine that he's upset. I just wish if he really had a problem with the Mountaineers... which he isn't sure caused the problem that maybe he should have contacted them. I hate shit being left of the mountain.... I pick it up and am bummed that people leave stuff up there. I'd rather just pick it up and move on. Dumb asses will always be found in the mountains or at sea level. Quote
greenfork Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I would like to remind people to make sure this doesn't happen again.  Thanks.... for listening and just be more aware  want people to relize there mistake and not let it happen again.  What a condescending nag!  "anonymous coward", I'm glad you want us all to "relize" that someone left some trash on Mt Baker. We'll make sure it won't happen again, ok? We'll be more aware. Sorry! Quote
