Well so far my summer has sucked, 3 major failures + moving + visiting the GF's parents in Missouri for 3 weeks. So along the way (of course we drove) I had a slight detour in the Winds.

Not knowing that the GF is more hardcore than a vast majority of my sniveling, bailing, whining climbing parters, I was blown away by her ability to not only climb very well, but to know her shit after 5 years since her last climb with outward bound. She didn't belive me when I told her this tidbit, but then again, she hasn't climbed with any of my partners.

Not that this place really needs any more visitors, fuck it, here's a photo onslaught:

"Screw the Cascades," was pretty much the 1st thing that crossed my mind after about twenty minutes into the approach.

Yeah, they are all from the Cirque in the S. range. Walls and ridges of granite EVERYWHERE. Those bigger climbs I posted pics of are actually closer than stuff like wolf's head and Pingora. Very EZ approach. 14 hour drive from PDX, 3-5 hours hike in.

Pretty much the only downside to the joint is the mosquitos and thunderstorms. We only brought a tarp, so we had a nice 5am wake up each morning with a buzzing alarm going off in the ear hole.

SCHA-WINGGGGGGGGGGG!

dude, you shouldnt talk thataway about someones woman, or the goats in the first pic, or mike bending over! But if its all that rock you are excited about, check out the big stone in the Winds (N.Face of Mt. Hooker).

Nice pics BTW Mike...

Those goats are from Horseshoe Ranch in Arkansas's premier climbing/bouldering area. Mid July is an UNRECCOMENDED time to go there, although the goats are in season.
