layton Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 fun was had today in the gorge. climbed on the WA side at cape horn. got silly pumped! Marcus and I did an extra 500' above the main flow of Salmon Run of WI2-easy 3 soloing. I've never bushwacked ice climbed before, holding a branch outta the way with one hand and trying to swing over or under it with the other! The gang was over to the left on the phantom gully stuff. looked f'in fat. checked out below the hwy too, looks great but still has some more to go. also checked out a steep little pillar just east of salmon and it wasn't touching down ... yet. Couldn't scope out anything on hamilton or table mtn, and had an epic drive back home. I wound up jumping ship around 122nd Ne and took the MAx and hoofed it home from the zoo. The streets are Mob Rules right now, folks abandoning there cars, driving on the wrong side of the hwy, cutting across folk's lawns n' shit! It reminded me of the 1st five minutes of the remake of Dawn of the Dead. MAYHEM! Hope we can make our way back out tomorrow cuz I don't have nearly enough movies, beer, or shit to spray about to keep me busy at home. Luckily there is a myriad of porn on the internet. Seems like everything is taking screws nicely, good ice right now. i placed screws like i was rock-climbing, in other words, being a pussy. no wonder i got pumped. It's steep! Saw "Black Dagger" ala "black diamond" but not "blackjack" (jesus chirst you guys, might as well call it horsetail falls, bridal veil falls, or stairway to heaven if you can't be original) and it looks f'in amazing! Looks like hyrophobia in the Can Rockies. Gorge ice is steep world class shit (while it's in). Quote
Alex Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 That looks cool! I baked cookies today, yum! Quote

pdk Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 That was crackman and I. Crackman was leading the second pitch. A friend at worked joked about how I was on TV last night and showed me the video. I was pretty surprised to see it was us. It was around 1:30 or so sunday afternoon, right as the ice storm blew into town. Its a shame all that ice will be falling down soon. And nice work on Black Dagger. We scoped it out Sunday - I very quickly realized it was beyond me. Glad someone got it before it melted. Did anyone get on the giant ice climb way back in Ainsworth state park? I was blown away by that climb- absolutely amazing. Quote

Unfortunately, the drive home was much more adventurous than the climbing. Quote
